The best way to get rid of them is to run up to them as they activate and then run away when they start flashing.

Eyes of the King: The eyes shoot out bullets in the direction they are moving. This results in stacked bullets very often, so dodge them at all costs.

Assassin: The simplest way to defeat the Avatar, a gang of Assassins can sit on the edge of the Avatar area and throw poisons to land right as the Avatar becomes vulnerable (flashing red). It will take a while, but it's almost completely safe, at least until the Blobomb phase starts.

Knight: Your Shields have not much use, the boss is invulnerable to stun but the extra defense gives you an advantage over the other classes against the Blobombs. Possibly one of the most important classes for the avatar because of the eye phase. Getting the stun in before the stacked shot insta kills someone. If you have the shield of Ogmur you want to be the tank class so you can get the first armor break in greatly increasing dps.(odds are that if you don't have this shield,you can still spam your shield and do a lot of dmg).

Warrior: The helm's boost is the Warrior's key to help you if you can properly use it during the spiraling phase and for plain running when he changed phases, Helm of the Juggernaut helps in most phases of this particular boss. Other helms will allow you to get in the gaps of the fireball.

Archer: Your Quivers for this boss won't help much but the Archer's range and high DPS with the Doom Bow is something to keep in handy.

Wizard: Using off-centered camera, you can easily throw in some cheap spell bombs without putting yourself in any real danger. Stay back until you see the boss flashing red, and then walk a little closer to him and spellbomb like mad.

Mystic: A mystic can greatly increase the amount of ranged dmg that gets in during the blobomb phase. Assuming you have a t5+ orb, use the stasis ability shortly after the first set of fireballs come at you.

priest: There are 2 very different ways to play priest at the avatar including tanking and curing the unstable/confuse. A priest with tome of holy protection is arguably the best tank in the game causing him to be plow the path for the group to dmg. If you already have a tank in the group you can use tome of purification the tank and any others who accidentally gained the unstable ability. The purification tome can be better than any boost in this situation.

Tank Class(any class can do this greatly helping the group but the true tanks can create a much bigger lane for the group to come in): It is helpful in a group of melees for one class to absorb the last of the fireballs, this allows for the other melees to run in and cause max dmg to the avatar, during vulnerable times.(note you can stand on top of the avatar for a short time, if you are the tank and still get sb in. It will take a while for you to become comfortable standing on the avatar).

Solo during blobombs: the logical thing is to continually shoot the avatar the whole time. The only problem is you will have to deal with the blobombs doing what they do best. If you stay back and charge in just for the vulnerability stage, you won't have to deal with the blobombs during the short vulnerability time. Timing is everything for this.

[Back to top](#top)","{{template-last-updated|updated={{template-release|exaltVersion=2.0.2.0}}}}

The Avatar of the Forgotten King is an event boss that drops the entrance to The Shatters, and has a very small chance of dropping the Tablet of the King's Avatar.

Charged with guarding the only entrance to The Shatters. There are also 4 Killer Pillars in the inner corners that activate during Phase 5, alongside 4 additional Killer Pillars on the outer corners.

When approached, the Avatar will activate and attack. When it is attacking, the 4 Killer Pillars in the outer corners will fire periodic blue shots along the perimeter of its arena.
**"Do not think I will not be able to destroy you."**

####Phase 1
The Avatar will use the following ordered attack cycle whenever it's vulnerable.

* Three rings of fire waves.
* A 6-armed counterclockwise-rotating spiral of fireballs.
* Four 8-armed spirals of flaming spinners (two rotating clockwise and two counter-clockwise). Over the course of the attack, it will throw out three sets of Fire Bombs, one on each of the walkways leading to itself.
* Another 6-armed spiral of fireballs, this time rotating clockwise before changing direction. The attack terminates in a ring of fire spinners and 4 more Fire Bombs in the same pattern as before.

After these attacks, the Avatar will flash red and stop shooting for about 3 seconds, becoming briefly invulnerable before it repeats the cycle. When attacking, the Avatar is permanently {{template-armored}}, resulting in 135 DEF.

The Avatar will visually start breaking down and become increasingly corrupted as it loses health.

####Phase 2
Taunt: "Be consumed by shadow!"
At 80% HP, the Avatar goes invulnerable and summons 8 Shades of the Avatar around it that remain stationary and fire both radial and aimed attacks. On death, Shades of the Avatar turn into special [Blobombs](/wiki/blobomb) that chase players and attempt to explode on them into rings of highly damaging shots that inflict Unstable (but not Silenced like normal Blobombs).

All of the Shades must be defeated to make the Avatar vulnerable again (note that this does not include the Blobombs they spawn). Throughout the whole fight, the Avatar will not attack if it is invulnerable.
"You show some strength, but your conviction is lacking."

####Phase 3
Taunt: "You shall be food for the ether."
At 60% HP, the Avatar briefly goes invulnerable and summons four waves of 4 Blobombs from the pools around his arena, one from each pool. Note that the Avatar will **reactivate and resume attacking** when the second wave is summoned.
**"I shall destroy you!"**

####Phase 4
Taunt: "EYE see you!"
At 40% HP, the Avatar goes invulnerable and spawns a large group of Eyes of the Avatar that move in a square configuration around the boss while firing aimed shots, occasionally cutting across the center of the arena. At half health, Eyes of the Avatar will turn black and start chasing players.

All of the Eyes must be destroyed to render the Avatar vulnerable.
"Do not test me, whelps!"

####Phase 5
Taunt: "My kingdom is UNTOUCHABLE!"
At 20% HP, the Avatar goes invulnerable and the 4 inner Killer Pillars around the boss activate and become vulnerable one at a time, starting with the upper left one and rotating counter-clockwise around the arena. Once activated, the Pillars fire massive waves of highly-damaging bullets before becoming vulnerable and Armored, firing periodic rings of shots; if a Pillar is not killed fast enough, it will repeat the first attack. The outermost Pillars will also start firing shotguns of slow blue shots inwards when the respective inner Pillars are destroyed, but will not become vulnerable.

All 4 Pillars must be destroyed to make the Avatar vulnerable. When the four inner Pillars are destroyed, the outer Pillars will despawn.
####Phase 6
Taunt: "Destroying me will only serve to bring you closer to your death."
The Avatar flashes red, and starts firing rings of purple spinners, additional rings of spinners that revolve around it, and lingering "beams" of purple vortexes that extend outwards in a 4-way cross shape. The fully extended beams oscillate back and forth and linger for a while, but only 3 crosses (making a total of 12 beams) may be active at once, with the oldest one disappearing each time the Avatar creates another cross. The beams are fired in a clockwise motion and are telegraphed by large purple blasts that deal no damage but inflict Unstable.

If the Avatar is still alive after this, it will briefly go invulnerable and then start cycling between its final attack pattern and its regular attack pattern (albeit using purple fire attacks).

####Death
Taunt: "YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!"
The Avatar crumbles into dust, leaving only its crown and loot behind. The crown then explodes into a final ring of fireballs as a strange phantom emerges from the rubble, diving into it and transforming it into a portal to The Shatters.

Reproduction

Spawns:
Fire Bomb

Shades of the Avatar x8

Eye of the Avatar
Blobomb x12

Defended by:
Killer Pillar x8

Back to top

Drops

{{template-drop
|purple=
{{template-drop-row|first=true
|item1={{template-item-link|page=weapons#tier-9|name=Tier 9 Weapons|externalIcon={{template-item-gif|image=Tier 9 Weapons}}}}
|item2={{template-item-link|page=armor#tier-9|name=Tier 9 Armor|externalIcon={{template-item-gif|image=Tier 9 Armor}}}}
}}
|cyanSpan=3
|cyan=
{{template-drop-row|first=true
|item1={{template-item-link|page=weapons#tier-10|name=Tier 10 Weapons|externalIcon={{template-item-gif|image=Tier 10 Weapons}}}}
|item2={{template-item-link|page=weapons#tier-11|name=Tier 11 Weapons|externalIcon={{template-item-gif|image=Tier 11 Weapons}}}}
|item3={{template-item-link|page=ability-items#tier-5|name=Tier 5 Abilities|externalIcon={{template-item-gif|image=Tier 5 Abilities}}}}
}}
{{template-drop-row
|item1={{template-item-link|page=armor#tier-10|name=Tier 10 Armor|externalIcon={{template-item-gif|image=Tier 10 Armor}}}}
|item2={{template-item-link|page=armor#tier-11|name=Tier 11 Armor|externalIcon={{template-item-gif|image=Tier 11 Armor}}}}
|item3={{template-item-link|page=armor#tier-12|name=Tier 12 Armor|externalIcon={{template-item-gif|image=Tier 12 Armor}}}}
}}
{{template-drop-row
|item1={{template-item-link|page=sword-rune|name=Sword Rune|externalIcon=//imgur.com/Xawmz73.png}}
}}
|golden=
{{template-drop-row|first=true
|item1={{template-item-link|page=blueprints#unique|name=King's Blueprint|externalIcon=//imgur.com/ZchnotO.png}}
}}
|blue=
{{template-drop-row|first=true
|item1={{template-item-link|page=stat-increase-potions|name=Stat Increase Potions|externalIcon=//imgur.com/rY8JQSL.gif}}
}}
|white=
{{template-drop-row|first=true
|item1={{template-item-link|page=tablet-of-the-king-s-avatar|name=Tablet of the King's Avatar|externalIcon=//imgur.com/aK1DMOZ.png}}
}}
|dungeon={{template-dungeon-link|page=the-shatters|name=The Shatters|externalIcon=//imgur.com/KtOxGpW.png|guaranteed=true}}
}}

Back to top

Tips & Strategies

Battle Tips
Pre-battle:

- It may be best to clear the area around the Avatar before initiating battle, especially if it spawns in the [Mountains](/wiki/mountains).
- You may require a moderately sized group of players to beat the Avatar, as it has a significant amount of health.
- [Weapons](/wiki/weapons) or [Abilities](/wiki/ability-items) with Armor Piercing properties are extremely effective against the Avatar because its extreme DEF greatly reduces damage from everything else. Anything that inflicts {{template-armor-broken}} can be especially devastating to the boss, allowing all players to deal full damage to it.
- Stay away from the Avatar if you are low level. Not only are you susceptible to a quick death, but also you have a very small chance of contributing significant damage due to the Avatar's high DEF.

Phase 1 and between phases: Spirals

- This should go without saying, but DO NOT STAND ON THE AVATAR when it is firing its bullets, or when a phase is about to end. You WILL die.
- The safest technique is to just maintain distance from the Avatar when it fires spiral after spiral of attacks.
- [Staff](/wiki/staves), [Bow](/wiki/bows) and [Wand](/wiki/wands) characters can stand a few (~7) tiles away from the Avatar and be able to fit between the fire spirals and continuously deal damage. Note that the spread of the stars is too narrow to fit through, so either back up or circle with them. An example of using this technique can be found [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOHHiPGDk04). However, the Avatar will also be throwing Fire Bombs on the safe tiles, so be ready to dodge whenever you see it throw them. Standing on a Fire Bomb when it explodes will **instantly kill** any character.
- Alternatively, the player can circle with the shots and continuously deal damage. Note that this technique is extremely risky, and will result in death if not executed properly. An example of using this technique can be found [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tzeg8oNWME8). This is not recommended for unmaxed characters.

Phase 2: Shades

- Do not stand on the tile the Shades will be spawning. A full shotgun can deal up to 716 damage immediately, which is enough to heavily cripple, if not kill, an unmaxed character.
- The Shades have decent HP and high DEF. Therefore, Warriors, Paladins, armor breaking, curses, and exposure are invaluable.
- The Shades themselves pose little threat to most players. However, be wary as to not take too many shots as they deal high amounts of damage per shot.
- When in a group, it is best to focus on a single shade to deal as much DPS as possible, eliminating them one by one.

Phase 3: Blobs

Three waves of 8 blobs spawn during the whole phase from the four pools of pure evil (purple water). The first wave is the easiest, as the Avatar does not fire any bullets, but is also invulnerable. The Avatar resumes his normal attacks when the second wave spawns. This phase should not be taken lightly as the blobs will try to come close to you and explode on you in a nova blast.

- This could be considered the most deceiving part of the battle. Many disregard Blobombs as harmless. However, be informed that taking even a few of the many shots they fire, multiplied by each blob that spawns, can kill even an 8/8 [Knight](/wiki/knight).
- The strategy for dealing with them is simple. Shoot and kill or trigger and kill, both being uniquely (moderately) risky. To trigger the bombs, simply touch them and back off. There is a small interval between you touching them and them exploding (signified by them flashing). Note that this becomes increasingly difficult as the number of blobombs increase. This is not recommended for unmaxed characters.

Phase 4: Eyes

- Piercing weapons and AoE abilities will make short work of the eyes. However, be ready to back away when they turn aggressive at half health, especially if many of them enter their aggressive state at once.
- The Eyes, similar to the Shades, pose little threat to the player individually. However, as many eyes can be present at a time, the damage can stack up to phenomenal amounts. In particular, beware of clusters of stacked shots when the Eyes first spawn.

Phase 5: Killer Pillars

- For starters; DO NOT STAND ON the Pillars. Doing so will lead to instant death, regardless of what class you are.
- The first pillar to fire is the north-west pillar, followed by the south-west, north-east, then south-east Pillars. Memorise this pattern so you can evade the next active Pillar's attacks quickly, as they can quickly fill the arena with bullets.
- Since the Pillars effectively have 105 defense along with 15,000 base HP, killing a Pillar singlehandedly will take a long time. However, note that damage dealt to the Pillars will not be replenished. Therefore, this phase can be done even with a lack of DPS.

Phase 6: Rage
Despite its impressive visuals, this phase is much less scary than it actually looks. The fast flame blasts don't do any damage, the chains of shots are fired in a predictable pattern, and the rings of spinning stars can easily be weaved in between. While taking a full chain of shots will deal massive damage and potentially kill you instantly, it is relatively easy to slip into the pattern and finish off the Avatar, as it will not have much HP left at this point.

Back to top

History

During [MOTMG 2020](/wiki/month-of-the-mad-god), the sprite for Avatar of the Forgotten King changed to fit the Reconstruction theme. However, unlike most reskinned event bosses, the name did not change.

Before [Exalt Version 2.0.2.0](/wiki/release-history-2021#exalt-version-2-0-2-0) (Aug 2021) Avatar of the Forgotten King used to have the following sprite

Back to top"],[[],["/wiki/shades-of-the-avatar","/wiki/eye-of-the-avatar","/wiki/blobomb","/wiki/killer-pillar"]]);initializeCookieConsentBanner("e");
