Fusing will carry over the pet's abilities, and ignore the abilities of the second pet that's being fused into the first pet. Per each rarity level there is a maximum level that an ability can reach. Higher levels can mean faster frequency of the ability being used, more effectiveness, and similar aspects. Pets found from a high rarity egg will be as if their previous levels' stats were maxed. A pet that is fused without having maxed abilities will result in a higher rarity level pet that will have a lower maximum ability cap. The possible abilities are Heal, Magic Heal, Electric, Attack Far, Attack Mid, Attack Close, Savage, Decoy, and Rising Fury. As of now, the numbers are an approximation.

Unlocking Abilities: At the common level, the 1st ability is unlocked and its maxed stat cap is level 30. At the uncommon level, the 2nd ability is unlocked and the stat cap increases to level 50. At the rare level, the maxed stat cap is increased to level 70. Only then at the Legendary level is the 3rd ability unlocked and the maxed stat cap is increased to level 90. At the Divine level, the maxed stat cap is increased to level 100.

Notes about fusing unmaxed pets: Pet rarity corresponds to common, uncommon, rare, legendary, and divine, while ability level corresponds to the the level of things such as heal, attack, paralyze, etc. When increasing the pet's rarity level, their ability level will not be affected. However, the ability levels' stat caps can increase, the next ability can be unlocked, and the pet may look different depending on the rarity level.

For example, a divine pet with the heal ability at level 30 will heal 14 hp, just the same as a common pet at heal level 30. The only difference is that the pet looks different and has a higher maxed stat cap.

At higher rarity levels, it is more costly to feed a pet. Coupled with this, feed power is less effective at higher ability levels, as 500 feed power may raise a low leveled ability several levels, yet hardly do much at the higher ability levels. Because of this, it is advantageous to level up at a lower rarity level until max, and then fuse as it is easier and more cost efficient to level up at the lower rarity levels.

Heal: "Heals you periodically."

Heal
| |

| Ability Level

| Amount Healed

| Delay Between Heals

1-30 (Common)
| 9-13 HP
| 10 - 6 s

| 30-50 (Uncommon)
| 13-23 HP
| 6 - 4 s

| 50-70 (Rare)
| 23-40 HP
| 4 - 2 s

| 70-90 (Legendary)
| 40-69 HP
| 2 - 1.5 s

| 90-100 (Divine)
| 69-90 HP
| 1.5 - 1 s

Magic Heal: "Restores your Magic Points periodically."

Magic Heal
| |

| Ability Level

| Amount Healed

| Delay Between Heals

1-30 (Common)
| 1-3 MP
| 10 - 6 s

| 30-50 (Uncommon)
| 3-8 MP
| 6 - 3 s

| 50-70 (Rare)
| 8-17 MP
| 3 - 1.9 s

| 70-90 (Legendary)
| 17-34 MP
| 1.9 - 1.4 s

| 90-100 (Divine)
| 34-45 MP
| 1.4 - 1 s

Attack Close: "Shoots at any nearby close-range enemies and deals heavy damage." Range of 3.5 tiles.

Attack Close
| |

| Ability Level

| Power

| Frequency

1-30 (Common)
| 7-17
| 5 - 2 s

| 30-50 (Uncommon)
| 17-39
| 2 - 1 s

| 50-70 (Rare)
| 39-80
| 1 - 0.6 s

| 70-90 (Legendary)
| 80-130
| 0.6 - 0.4 s

| 90-100 (Divine)
| 130-200
| 0.4 - 0.2 s

Attack Mid: "Shoots at any nearby mid-range enemies and deals medium damage." Range of 6.75 tiles.

Attack Mid
| |

| Ability Level

| Power

| Frequency

1-30 (Common)
| 5-12
| 5 - 2 s

| 30-50 (Uncommon)
| 12-25
| 2 - 1 s

| 50-70 (Rare)
| 25-60
| 1 - 0.6 s

| 70-90 (Legendary)
| 60-121
| 0.6 - 0.4 s

| 90-100 (Divine)
| 121-150
| 0.4 - 0.2 s

Attack Far: "Shoots at any nearby far-range enemies and deals light damage." Range of 9 tiles.

Attack Far
|
|

| Ability Level

| Power

| Frequency

1-30 (Common)
| 3-8
| 5 - 2 s

| 30-50 (Uncommon)
| 8-19
| 2 - 1 s

| 50-70 (Rare)
| 19-40
| 1 - 0.6 s

| 70-90 (Legendary)
| 40 - 76
| 0.6 - 0.4 s

| 90-100 (Divine)
| 76 - 100
| 0.4 - .2 s

Electric: "Zaps any enemy foolish enough to touch your pet. They will just return to your [Pet Yard](/wiki/pet-yard). Multiple characters owned by a unique account are able to choose the same pet to assist them in combat.

Pets are a crucial part of the game. It is recommended to hatch and level up pets to fully enjoy the game, as they allow you to play the game without having to keep a close eye on your health at all times.

Heal and Magic Heal are the two most useful abilities to have on your pet. You should aim to have Heal as your first ability and Magic Heal as your second ability (or the other way around). Electric and Decoy are both often used as third abilities.

There are five rarity levels of pets:

- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Legendary
- Divine

###[Pet Eggs](/wiki/pet-eggs)
Pets come from [Pet Eggs](/wiki/pet-eggs). Pets Eggs are dropped in egg baskets (seen above) by [Lesser Gods](/wiki/gods), [Gods of the Realm](/wiki/gods), [Event Gods](/wiki/quest-monsters#event), and [Dungeon Bosses](/wiki/dungeon-bosses). Pet Eggs can also be purchased in the [Nexus Shop](/wiki/nexus).

Pet Eggs can be found for all 14 [Pet Families](/wiki/pet-families) and for all rarity levels except Divine. Mystery Pet Eggs will hatch a random pet at the given rarity level from any of the fourteen Pet Families.

Pet Eggs can only be used in the [Pet Yard](/wiki/pet-yard), and when used the egg will disappear and spawn a pet. If the rarity level of the egg is two or more tiers higher than what the Pet Yard can hold, then you will be unable to hatch the egg.

###[Pet Yard](/wiki/pet-yard)
A portal to your [Pet Yard](/wiki/pet-yard) can be found in the [Nexus](/wiki/nexus) and in your [Vault](/wiki/vault). Like your Vault, only you can enter your own Pet Yard.

In the Pet Yard, you can hatch Pet Eggs to get pets, [feed](/wiki/pet-feeding) pets to level up their abilities, [fuse](/wiki/pet-fusing) pets to increase their rarity level, instruct pets to follow or unfollow you, and release pets to get rid of them.

The Pet Yard can contain up to 50 pets. If you already have 50 pets in your yard, Pet Eggs will not hatch, and you will need to release a pet to make room.

Initially, the Pet Yard's maximum level is Common. If the pet's rarity is above that of your pet yard, you will be unable to feed the pet. Your pet yard needs to be one tier above your pet's tier in order to attempt a fusion with that pet.

|Pet Yard Upgrade|Fame Cost|Gold Cost|
|-|-|-|
|Common to Uncommon|875|150|
|Uncommon to Rare|3500|400|
|Rare to Legendary|43750|1200|
|Legendary to Divine|87500|2000|

###[Pet Abilities](/wiki/pet-abilities)
A pet has three [abilities](/wiki/pet-abilities) which are unlocked depending on the rarity level of the pet. The second ability is unlocked at Uncommon rarity and the third at Legendary rarity.

There are nine pet abilities.

- Heal: *"Heals you periodically"*
- Magic Heal: *"Restores your Magic Points periodically"*
- Attack Close: *"Shoots at any close-range enemies and deals heavy damage"*
- Attack Mid: *"Shoots at any mid-range enemies and deals medium damage"*
- Attack Far: *"Shoots at any nearby far-range enemies and deals light damage"*
- Electric: *"Zaps any enemy foolish enough to touch your pet. This attack has a chance of paralyzing your foes"*
- Savage: *"Your pet will run towards nearby enemies"*
- Rising Fury: *"Standing still will charge this attack. Begin moving to release a blast of fury that hurts nearby enemies"*
- Decoy: *"Distracts enemies for a short while"*

The strength and the frequency of ability occurrence depend on the ability level. [Feed](/wiki/pet-feeding) your pets to level up their abilities.

The absolute level cap on abilities depends on the rarity level of the pet. **A pet's ability level cap can also depend on the ability level of the pets it might have fused from** (see [Pet Fusing](/wiki/pet-fusing)).

|Pet Rarity|Abilities Unlocked|Maxed Ability Level Cap|
|-|-|-|
|Common|1|30|
|Uncommon|2|50|
|Rare|2|70|
|Legendary|3|90|
|Divine|3|100|

###[Pet Feeding](/wiki/pet-feeding)

[Feed](/wiki/pet-feeding) your pet any unwanted items to increase the levels of their abilities. All items have a feed power value, which is displayed in the item description. [Food items](/wiki/pet-food) for your pet can also be bought in the Nexus, or rarely dropped from enemies under certain conditions. For more information on which enemies are best for farming pet food, see the [Pet Maxing Guide](https://www.realmeye.com/wiki/pet-maxing-guide).

In order to feed a pet, select the pet you want to feed on the left of the interface, select what items you want to feed your pet out of your current inventory, and click on either the fame or gold icon indicated to spend the designated amount of fame or gold to feed your pet. An item's feed power value is applied in whole to all unlocked abilities. In other words, feed power values are not divided between abilities. Your backpack inventory will not be seen by the interface, so you will need to move the items you intend to feed from your backpack to your main inventory before entering the pet yard.

Feeding a pet requires a fame or gold cost that depends on the rarity level of a pet. It is recommended to feed items that have high feed power, in order to maximize your efficiency of the fame you spent. You can feed your pet up to eight items in a single feed action. The cost to feed your pet is applied to *each* item; in other words, to feed your uncommon pet three items at once, you will need to spend 90 Fame or 36 Gold.

|Pet Rarity|Feeding Cost (Fame)|Feeding Cost (Gold)|
|-|-|-|
|Common|15|5|
|Uncommon|50|12|
|Rare|175|30|
|Legendary|625|60|
|Divine|1750|150|

###[Pet Fusing](/wiki/pet-fusing)

In your [Pet Yard](/wiki/pet-yard), you can [fuse](/wiki/pet-fusing) one pet into another to upgrade its rarity level. In order to fuse, the two pets must be from same pet family and have the same rarity level. As said before, your pet yard must also be at least one tier above the pets you intend to fuse.

In the fusing window, the pet you selected on the left of the interface is the one that will remain after the fusion, obtaining the rarity upgrade. The pet selected on the lower right corner of the interface is the pet that will be consumed in the fusion process. When fusing up to the Rare or Divine level, the appearance of your pet will change.

The ability level cap of the resultant pet will depend on the levels of the two pets' first abilities. Fusing two pets who both have their first ability maxed (MAXED strength fusion) will result in the highest possible level cap for the new pet. It is generally advised to fuse pets only when all their abilities are fully maxed.

![Pet Fusing](https://i.imgur.com/mM8L3Na.png)

|Pet Fusion|Fusing Cost (Fame)|Fusing Cost (Gold)| Fusion Bonus
|-|-|-|
|Common to Uncommon|525|100| Second ability unlocked
|Uncommon to Rare|1750|240| Pet appearance change
|Rare to Legendary|7000|600| Third ability unlocked
|Legendary to Divine|26250|1800| Pet appearance change

###[Pet Families](/wiki/pet-families)
There are 14 Pet Families. In order to fuse two pets, they must be from the same family and have the same rarity level.

- Aquatic

Pet Abilities and Pet Rarity Levels will stay the same. Changing your pet's skin or its family comes at a cost. It costs 200 Fame or 20 Gold to change your pet to a different pet within the same family. It will cost you 1000 Fame or 100 Gold to change your pet to another pet from a different family.

###[Pet Skins](/wiki/pet-skins)
A Pet Skin item is used to unlock a skin that your pet can be changed to in the pet wardrobe. The item is consumed with use, but it will not immediately change your pet's skin. Note that the appearance change associated with [fusing](/wiki/pet-fusing) your pet will replace your current pet's skin with another skin associated with the rarity and family of the pet. This change is reversible at the costs mentioned above, if you preferred how your pet looked previously.

###[Pet Saddlebag](/wiki/pet-saddlebag)
Added in [Exalt Version 4.1.4.0](/wiki/release-history-2024#exalt-version-4-1-4-0), the Pet Saddlebag allows the pet owner to carry certain items on their pet, similar in nature to a [backpack](/wiki/backpack). However, there are several noteable differences between the two: the items stored on the pet are not lost upon a character's death, and the items stored on the pet can be accessed by any character with the same seasonal/nonseasonal status. Additionally, the Pet Saddlebag cannot store equippable items, nor can it carry the Moonlight Village Book and Pages.

###[Vanity Pets](/wiki/vanity-pets)

Unlike most other pets, vanity pets have no relation to the mechanics of the Pet Yard, and can be used alongside a traditional pet.

[![Valentine Generator](https://static.drips.pw/rotmg/wiki/Pets/Valentine%20Generator.png "Valentine Generator")![Beach Ball](https://static.drips.pw/rotmg/wiki/Pets/Beach%20Ball%20Generator.png "Beach Ball")![Beer Slurp](https://static.drips.pw/rotmg/wiki/Pets/Beer%20Slurp%20Generator.png "Beer Slurp")![Valentine Launcher](https://static.drips.pw/rotmg/wiki/Pets/Valentine%20Heart%20Generator.png "Valentine Launcher")![Pet Rock](https://static.drips.pw/rotmg/wiki/Misc%20items/Pet%20Rock%20Item.png "Pet Rock")](/wiki/vanity-pets)

### History
Prior to release 12.0.0, pets were aesthetic only (had no abilities), and could only be obtained using [Realm Gold](/wiki/realm-gold). For information about pets as they existed before functional abilities were implemented, refer to [Pets Prior to Release 12.0.0](/wiki/pets-prior-to-release-12-0-0).

Prior to [Exalt Version 1.1.0.0](/wiki/release-history-2020#exalt-version-1-1-0-0), pets were unaffected by the Vital Combat system that reduces their heal and magic heal capabilities for a brief period once the character is hit for enough damage."],[["/wiki/pet-food","/wiki/pets-prior-to-release-12-0-0","/wiki/pet-yard"],["/wiki/pet-yard","/wiki/pet-abilities","/wiki/pet-feeding","/wiki/pet-fusing","/wiki/pet-families","/wiki/pet-wardrobe","/wiki/pet-saddlebag"]]);initializeCookieConsentBanner("e");
