How to make sidebars?(For Youtube)

#1

Hi, I want to make a ROTMG youtube channel and before I start I need some sidebars. Problem is that I don’t know how to make them. If anybody who knows could list the steps of making it and putting them in videos and what software to use that would be awesome.

Thanks

First off, what editing software do you guys use?

Tell me if you find one because I can’t even get movie maker (they discontinued it and my machine is too new).

I tried the one which had a shark as the logo but it was already too hard to use. I just want something light weight.

Hey there!

While I do make Youtube videos, I don’t really use sidebars all that much, but my friend IMustTurd made a tutorial of how to make them which you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsDI3fwJTU4

As for editing software that’s free to download and use, might I recommend Filmora? While I’ve personally never used it, I’ve heard some great things of it, and it’s beginner friendly to boot! You can find a link to it down below, with an effects pack right underneath that. Hope this helps!

So i use kdenlive, and to do that i would just affine an image underneath the footage.

Offtopic: Seeing as your on the forum a little @yinyarn I wanted to ask something. What do you use to make your videos?

Adobe Premiere. It’s a little complicated, but if you already have prior knowledge on video editing then you’ll probably be golden. It’s definitely not for starters though, but you can always look up guides. You can make some really amazing looking things with it, you just need the knowledge.

Sounds Good, right now I’m on linux and probably wouldn’t use it enough to warrant paying for it. So in the search for similar software i would also like to ask, what are the features that are actually important to look out for in good editing software?

Main things you want to look out for is how well and easily you can keyframe using it, if it feels uncomfortable then that’s a real big problem (trust me, you’ll be using it a ton). You want to see if it comes with some nice effects with it for sake of making nice looking… well, effects. (Adobe After Effects is a great one, but I just still use Adobe Premiere regardless). Make a short clip and render it out, see if the quality is good, and if it’s not what you’re looking for, then throw it out. Windows Movie Maker used to drive me crazy years ago because everything came out looking pixeled and mangled.
