When activated, the closest enemy in a "cone" area (basically an angle of 30°) of the direction of your cursor will start the chain, this activation area extends to the edge of the screen. You will see a particle effect of this cone if there are no enemies within it. For the chain to extend to more targets, a monster that has not been hit yet must be within ~8 Range of the last target.\n\nAs of {{template-release|patch=X.15.0}}, Scepters scale with wisdom. Past 50 wisdom, depending on the scepter, the damage and amount of targets increases the more you have. While the damage per wis increase is different per scepter, the target increase is always equivalent to +1 per 10 WIS over 50<\/b> for tiered scepters. This parameter varies for untiered scepters and can be found in their individual item pages. Scepters usually do less damage to each subsequent target.\n\nAfter Scepters rework in {{template-release|exaltVersion=3.0.0.0}}, enemies can become afflicted with shockblast if they are hit by lightning, becoming a source of area damage themselves. If an enemy is struck by the lightning, for a brief period of time they would transform into a “damaging AoE” which can deal damage to other enemies, potentially affecting even more enemies that weren’t hit by it initially.
