"Boss Rush"

#1

You’ve been playing Realm for years, and you’re used to the same things. You run around the realm all day defeating enemies for fame, maybe the occassional good drop every year or so. It’s nice and all, but you’re getting tired of the same old things every day. You want something new and fresh, but familiar… you want a twist. You don’t want to do Lost Halls all day for a White Bag you’ll never get. You want to be able to get a greater chance not because of luck, but because… well, you’re the best.

Well, I have just the thing for you.

Boss Rush

A challenge like no other.

The idea of a boss rush is something that you’ve pretty much guaranteed heard of before, because it’s in a lot of games, but… in Realm? Why would it be in Realm of all things? Just think about the idea in depth.
There are many dungeons in the game, ranging from no difficulty to extreme difficulty to downright being impossible to do alone. There are plenty of people that go out and do solo Shatters either just for the thrill or for the views on YouTube (COUGH) and that’s fun and all, but why not do it for something better? Why not do it for a chance at some good UTs for doing what Boss Rush is made for in games: speed?

Here’s the rules.

  1. You start out on any character that you want to use.
  2. There are two categories: Pets Allowed and Petless. They are judged separately.
  3. You can’t bring any consumables with you, not even Health or Magic potions.
  4. Upon defeating a boss, you will be transported to the next dungeon.
  5. Minions will despawn upon the boss dying, regardless of what the boss is. Other enemies do not count.
  6. No loot will drop from any boss.
  7. No experience is gained from dungeons unless specified.
  8. The Mini-Map of each dungeon will be provided as soon as you enter. Dungeons will be randomized unless specific, and no treasure rooms will spawn for any dungeon.
  9. You start out with the most basic dungeons, and work your way up.
  10. Upon entering the first dungeon, you will be unable to move or shoot, and no enemies will move or shoot either. A countdown will count down from 5, and after “1”, a timer will start. The timer counts how much time you’ve spent in each dungeon collectively. Under that first timer will be a second timer that is slightly smaller, telling you how much time you’ve spent in the current dungeon.
  11. Complete the dungeon as fast as you can.

Dungeon Order:

  • Pirate Cave
  • Forest Maze
  • Spider Den
  • Forbidden Jungle
  • Sprite World
  • Snake Pit
  • Undead Lair
  • The Hive
  • Abyss of Demons
  • Cave of a Thousand Treasures
  • Manor of the Immortals
  • Puppet Master’s Theatre
  • Mad Lab (Both bosses; Horrific Creation will immediately open upon Dr. Terrible being defeated.)
  • Toxic Sewers
  • Haunted Cemetery

Now, here’s where things start to get interesting in this list. (Note: If a boss has lower Health, their phases will be shortened to take this into account as well, making them achieved faster.)

  • Candyland Hunting Grounds
Rather than simply having it be endless, have every boss spawn in succession in a hall of boss rooms. The order will be completely random, but you will still fight them all, and minions will disappear once they are all gone. Gain 1 Fame for defeating all bosses in under 2 minutes.
  • Belladonna’s Garden
No Chest will spawn, and you will instead be taken right to the next dungeon. Gain 1 Fame from this fight.
  • Deadwater Docks
You will be required to do the first part of the dungeon, but there will be no Heroic Observer, considering that most classes cannot defeat it alone. Jon Bilgewater will not heal in the first half of the fight. Gain 1 Fame from this fight.
  • Woodland Labyrinth
Gain 1 Fame from this fight.
  • The Crawling Depths
Boss will not activate until all large Eggs are defeated. Son of Arachna will have 3/4 of original Health. Gain 1 Fame from this fight.
  • Battle for the Nexus
Only Oryx will give Fame. All bosses will spawn in succession much like the Candyland Hunting Grounds.
  • Davy Jones’ Locker
Keys will be in set locations and marked on the minimap, to make this less of a luck-based dungeon. Davy’s Health will be half of his usual Health. Gain 1 Fame from this fight.
  • Ice Cave
Layout of the dungeon will remain randomized, but there is no ice floor. Upon clearing all larger minions, you will be taken directly to the Inner Sectum. Esben the Unwilling has half the health he usually does, and there is no Chest drop. Gain 1 Fame from this fight.
  • Ocean Trench
Thessal will have her original 69000 Health rather than her current 96000 Health. Likelyhood of Ponies spawning is halved. Gain 1 Fame from this fight.
  • Oryx’s Castle
Janus will always spawn after you defeat the Stone Guardians with no statues required to access him, and you will have a set lane that is a straight shot. No HP-heavy walls will spawn, and no Living Floor will be present. Each Guardian will give 1 Fame, and Janus will give 1 Fame as well. Stone Guardians will not regenerate HP, and neither will Janus. No Chest will spawn, and you will be taken directly to the next dungeon.
  • Oryx’s Chamber
Oryx will have 75000 Health, rather than his original 85000 Health or his scaled Health.
  • Wine Cellar
You will spawn directly in the boss room with Oryx. He will have 85000 Health, rather than his original 75000 or his scaled Health. Minions will spawn at 1/3 the rate.
  • Tomb of the Ancients
There is no chance for a Treasure Sarcophagus to spawn, and upon defeating all Sarcophagi, you will be taken directly to the boss room, in front of Bes before he spawns. All bosses will have 2/3 of their original Health, and Nut will not have their original Armor Break arrows during their “rage” phase. Gain 1 Fame per Ancient.
  • Mountain Temple
    Effects depend on your class.
Robe Classes: All phases involving Daichi shooting will come with Weak/Pet Stasis shots. Daichi will have 2/3 of his usual Health.
Leather Classes: All phases involving Daichi shooting will come with Weak/Pet Stasis shots, except for the last phase. Daichi will have 2/3 of his usual Health.
Armor Classes: No Weak/Pet Stasis shots will be fired, but Daichi will have his full original Health.
Gain 2 Fame from this Fight.
  • Parasite Chambers
You will only have to fight the boss, but the boss will have 2x the Health from its usual Health if you were to do it alone. Gain 10 Fame from this fight.
  • Lair of Draconis
Start off from any dragon you want and still do Ivory in the end. Feargus will not come with any eggs, as they are infuriating to deal with for any player. All dragons will have 90000 Health, and Feargus will not spawn minions. Upon defeating your fourth dragon, you will be taken to the Ivory Wyvern. Gain 1 Fame for each Dragon. No bosses will spawn a Chest, and instead, as each dragon dies, you will be immediately given access to the center podium.
  • Lair of Shaitan
Shaitan will have 2/3 of his usual Health. Gain 2 Fame from this fight.
  • Puppet Master’s Encore
Final phase will not fire Pet Stasis shots. Gain 2 Fame from this fight.
  • The Shatters
All enemy placement will be in a set pattern, and the Secret Switch before Twilight Archmage will not be an option for any class. The only enemy that will not be present is the Ice Mage, to prevent Ice Spheres magically ruining runs. Gain 2 Fame for each boss, and 1 Fame for defeating both Royal Guardians at the start of the Forgotten King fight. No bosses will spawn a Chest, and instead, as a boss dies, the next area will immediately be opened. For the King, you will be immediately transported to the next dungeon.
  • The Nest
A set path to the boss will be given, and no enemies will respawn. Killer Queen Bee will have 1/2 of her original Health, and all Status Effects will no longer be a part of her attack pattern(outside of Confused), instead replaced with Armor Pierce on every shot. Gain 3 Fame from this fight.
  • Lost Halls
In Petless mode, all bosses will have half of their Health in the normal mode.
    Cultist Hideout
You will be immediately spawned into the Cultist Hideout before anything else, where a set path will be given. Malus will have 2/3 of his original Health. Gain 5 Fame from this fight.
    Lost Halls
A set path will be given. Commander of the Crusade will have half the likelyhood of spawning, and “Spooky Boi” will not appear ever. Marble Colossus will have 1/2 of his original Health. Gain 5 Fame from this fight.
    The Void
This is the most unique change of all, as you will have to not only endure the Void Entity itself, but you will also have to endure two new survival phases of pure enemies that you must defeat, with the Void Entity taking no part in them. They will consist of 50 enemies each, all being the harder “thicc boi” entities that you must defeat by waiting them out, as they will drain health. After 1 minute, they will die and the next will spawn. 10 will spawn at a time until all are defeated, in which the next phase will begin of the Void Entity. No “Sonic Phase” will occur, instead being replaced by one of these survival phases. Upon defeating the Void Entity, you will have to face the second survival phase; once this is over, the timer will stop and he will go through his usual death phase, instead congratulating the player for making it through “Boss Rush” with this dialogue:
“Congratulations, mortal. You have endured the trials put in front of you, even by yourself with no extra help provided.”
    “Your time was (time here).“
If you got a record for a specific dungeon, he will also say:
“And congratulations again, as you have set a record in the following dungeon(s):”
    ”(Dungeon #1)”
    "(Dungeon #2 if achieved)"
    "(Dungeon #3 if achieved)"
    And so on.
“Your results have been recorded for this week. At the end of the week, winners will be announced. Thank you for participating, mortal.”

After this, you will be transported back to the nexus, and you will be presented your times in comparison to the “World Record” of each dungeon for the class that you used. It would be unfair to compare a Priest to a Warrior, as well as your total time compared to the “World Record” for the class that you used, under the same premise. However, the overall times will be taken into account as well for all classes rather than a single class in the end result: the winner’s circle.

Winner Prizes

To whoever wins the “Top 3 Times” of the week, as well as the fastest time for the class that they chose, they will be given different “lotto tickets” for any whites or Lost Halls tops. To those that complete it the fastest on their class, they will recieve one ticket. To the “Top 3”, 3rd and 2nd place will recieve 1(on top of their original 1 if they got one), and 1st Place will recieve two tickets(on top of their original 1).
As well as these tickets, 3rd to 1st place will recieve new medals commemorating their success.

Upon consuming them, you will be presented a mini-game that’s a revival of the Alchemist, but with no chance to get a 2nd item. You will be shown your three items, they will be randomized, and you must choose accordingly. Once you get your choice, you will be given that, and it will be transferred to your vault. #2

Cool concept!

#3

Why thank you.

#4

the drop tables are kinda weird.

funny how scutum is not a rare high tier, but apairy is, huh

#5

Why, quite the splendid idea ole chap!

#6

It’s mainly for the fact that The Nest is one of the hardest dungeons around Realm currently. Most of the drops are based solely on difficulty rather than the drop rates; that’s why the Shatters drops are part of the rare alongside Lost Halls and The Nest. The only items that are not based on difficulty and rather drop rates are all of the Event Whites excluding Ray Katana due to its use.

Apiary Armor is not that strong, so that’s why I paired it with Honey Circlet. I did this for a few other items that were lackluster as well, excluding Sentient Staff and Ancient Spell: Pierce. I may change these with proper reasons to.

#7

gets as a special drop
i would actually shoot myself

this, on the other hand
i would seriously shit myself and jump for joy

#8

“Low-Tier”

While it does drop from the Haunted Cemetery, I don’t think it warrants low tier. Neither does Resu or Plague, but that might just be me.

#9

any way to get some free skins i want im in

#10

Easy is… wait for it… insanely easy.
Hard is… wait for it… next to impossible. Half health void =500,000 hp. You have 7 minutes. Go…

It’s literally fucking impossible.

#11

You have an entire less phase to worry about, since the “Sonic Phase” is considered one of his actual phases. I didn’t clarify it in the post, but it takes up part of the Void Entity’s normal phases, so his timer will pause until those 5 minutes are up, making it significantly easier.

#12

Still next to impossible unless you going all out dps… Warrior or ninja, which will make it very very difficult

#13

The idea isn’t super in-depth for each specific dungeon as to what it would do, I’ll admit that, but the point of adding the Void Entity fight - something seen as impossible to solo - is to give it attributes that make it possible to do solo while not removing the difficulty of it. It’s not meant to be a cake-walk, obviously.

The things I can think of to prevent it being impossible would be to:

  • Remove the time limit from the fight.
  • Make the timer longer and make the phase end faster.

If you have other suggestions, I’m up for listening!

#14

tf happens when you nexus. Also pretty sure this will only make the higher level players even richer.

#15

I mean, some of the higher level players may get richer, but they’d have to do it in competition with the people that are hardcore and dead-set on being the best.

As for “nexusing”, I didn’t mention it in the post, but you are unable to nexus, and if you get eliminated like in the Arena, you are presented with:
“You survived to: (Dungeon)”
“You died to: (Enemy)”
“Your time was: (Time)”

#16

I doubt people who are dead set on being the best and aren’t white or yellow star (not bias or anything. There are trash white and yellow stars, but most people with the best gear and best pets are undoubtedly white or yellow stars) don’t have much of a chance. Maybe there are some slim chances in the first couple lower dungeons but after that there is no opportunity left.

#17

It’s not just simply based on gear, but also strategy overall. You can have the best gear but suck at some things. That’s why it’s based on actual skill in the end.

There’s also Petless for those that don’t have the best pet but want a chance at things, as there’s much different strategies for doing things without a pet.

#18

But void is a lot easier without a time limit. Making the time longer and the phases end faster is impossible without destroying void entirely. My advice is to simply remove void

#19

Removing the Void entirely defeats the purpose of it being a “Boss Rush”, since typically it implies that you fight all bosses from a certain point up. I did change a few things, but that’s simply to make it possible, and I simply gave the “no time limit” or “reduced time limit and shorter phase” as a suggestion. Removing the Void is a sort of last resort thing for me, since it’s not in the spirit of the idea.

#20

It’s not possible to add void without entirely redesigning void in which case you aren’t really fighting void anyway so it doesn’t follow the spirit of Boss Rush any way you make it
