Light Armor Class Idea: Warmatron or Amazon

S = Standing still
W = Walking
A = Attacking

Introduction to the class and weapon
In order to unlock the warmatron, reach level 20 with huntress and knight.
The warmatron is a medium range class that uses a new weapon type, spears!
The range of a spear lies around 6.00~ tiles. Additionally, all spears ignore obstacles.
I have no estimates of what damage spears would deal, but whatever is balanced.

Warmatron’s Ability
The warmatron’s ability is “Formation: Phalanx” (Or just “Phalanx”).
Passively, this ability grants a small amount of defense to the user when equipped.

Activate to place down a barrier at your cursor’s location, taking up 1 tile (or potentially multiple if the tier is high enough). The barrier can be walked through by you and other players, but enemies can’t path through the barrier, and any enemy shots that hit it will be blocked by it as if it was terrain.

All Phalanxes however have a set damage number that they can absorb before disappearing depending on the tier. If the phalanx isn’t destroyed, it will always last up to a max of 1.5 seconds.
Phalanxes also have a 4 second cooldown between uses.
If a projectile breaks the Phalanx, it will keep going

Phalanx would have a high mana cost, similarly to the knight’s shield, and offers a supportive and party oriented ability for you to safe yourself or an ally from incoming fire. Timing is key though, to master your phalanx placement.

too OP/ too abusive.
Imagine blocking the forgotten king at test-patience phase… oh god.

let’s say, void rage phase shotgun, just press spacebar. boom. easy.

#3

What if there are e.g 10 warmatrons in a tomb? Can they just circle 1 boss with their ability and savely kill it when they have high enough mp reg/pots? I think you should add a high enough cooldown to the abilitys, so that this wont be the case.

#4

Oh yeah! A cooldown! I knew I missed something. Thanks!

#5

It will have a finite amount of health. The barrier will quickly break if up against that phase.
EDIT: I also added the specification that if a projectile were to break a barrier, eg. 300 health barrier vs 305 damage projectile, the barrier would break and the projectile would keep going, still dealing 305 damage.

I swear your sprites need more work. I know I’m a real hypocrite for saying this because my sprites suck too, but still…The class idea overall is fine. The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that the attacking sprites have a wider waist than the standing and walking sprites.

#7

No, no, don’t mind me. The sprites are pretty good. It’s just that every time someone posts a sprite with no outline, I go crazy.

#8

How do they have a wider waist? It’s all 3 pixels. If you look closely, it’s the spear which is infront of the waist.

#9

Oh, I thought one of the hands was part of a waist.

#10

Why is it a phalanx. That doesnt make any sense

#11

The class utilizes a spear and puts up a protective barrier, it’s a phalanx. I know a phalanx is a tactical formation, but the name fit imo.

#12

Bumped

Sprites are nice
