Its making fun of void memes. Those being “scary” or atleast having unsettling imagery, and if they’re images they’re usually really pretentious.

So really edgy memes that try too hard.

it also strikes me as an absurd burlesque of the progress of meme culture - as you go through the panels (from the archaic ‘le normal start’ through to more modern and ironic vogues like the screaming ‘soyish’ character) it becomes increasingly meta and divested of referents… until finally the joke is on you for enjoying such a hollow parody… dare i say a ‘void’… or indeed failing to comprehend it?
