Modding Clients [Friendly]

#1

Since my question was taken down off the subreddit… if I were to, lets say, change a sprite, or font, or something, with my client (something purely cosmetic), would that be breaking the ToS, and bannable, or is it allowed by deca?

GHZD once replaced his scutum with a scrotum.

Don’t know if it’s against ToS though, that’s a question for Deca support.

#3

How to even change sprites in the first place ?

#4

honestly, i have no clue lol

#5

Modifying the client is against the ToS… I think

I doubt you’ll get banned for it though

#6

Ive made videos on it before.
Textures: https://youtu.be/urUvaI6W8JU
Fonts: https://youtu.be/hLBx40oNCOA
Data: https://youtu.be/JPOBtmnIqlU

And yes. I emailed deca and they said it’s not allowed - but unless you’re stupid, you won’t be banned.

Tbh I just liked the song so I searched up the song instead…

If no one knows (and you’re not changing the game for anyone else so they wouldn’t know) then they can’t really pin this on you can they?

As someone who has theoretically known a friend who has done this:

It is undetectable by Deca, however if there is proof of your account using it, then you run into a moral grey area. It is technically against the ToS, however famous youtubers like GHZD have not been reprimanded for it. It would take someone to really have a vendetta against you, and send report ticket after report ticket for you to get banned.

How to actually do this hypothethically:

  1. Decompile the flash .swf file
  2. Locate and replace the files that you edit.
  3. Recompile the files back into a .swf file.

Every update will break your client, so it will have to be repeated.

HOWEVER

Deca has since obfuscated the client code, which means that finding files within the decompressed client is a nightmare. Legends tell of a certain website that rhymes with SaltyMayorShameCracking that has up to date guides.

I’m curious what exactly in the game at the moment so strongly makes you want to change it, that you’ll bother playing the game of “is what I’m doing against ToS” when it literally won’t even matter in like a month or two because the whole game client’s architecture will be completely different.

tl;dr just curious what you even want to change texture of

Let’s be real - even if your modification were not purely cosmetic you wouldn’t face repercussions… That said, I believe any modification of game client is technically against TOS. Deca won’t know what you did to your client, however, so I would say just go for it.
