The Enchantress

#Introducing: The Enchantress!

To believe that one can control the formidable forces of nature is foolish. To let the forces of nature control you - that is power. The enchantress is perfectly attuned with nature, using a calm mind and perfect balance to tilt the minds of those less strong-willed. Lest you be attuned with the good graces of nature, fear the enchantress, or you may find yourself fighting for the land in your last moments before fertilizing it.

The enchantress is an offensive class who fights with both unique magical ability and reckless flurries of arrows. The enchantress uses…

Bows
Robes
Rings

…and her unique ability of the enchanting rod (detailed following stats)

##Ability: Enchanting Rod

The enchanting rod has one purpose: to temporarily turn an enemy into an ally in battle. The rod is aimed at a single target, creating an effect similar to the chain lightning of a sorcerer (without the chain, of course). That enemy is now enchanted, and is at the will of the ever attuned enchantress. Enchanted enemies will attack other enemies with whatever behavior it was exhibiting at the time of enchanting (enemies who go through multiple phases of attack patterns will maintain such behavior, simply treating other enemies as if they were players). Enchanted enemies ignore the defense of other enemies, and will not attack other players for the duration. Enchanted enemies are invulnerable for the duration, and most boss entities will be immune to enchant.

##Class Notes

The Enchantress is supposed to be a unique class that deals lots of damage with considerable risk. The enchantress’s high atk and dexterity allows it to deal substantial damage with its bow while leaning on the riskier side with the defensive drawbacks of robes; however, these robes allow the enchantress to double as a spell-caster, enchanting enemies at rates that increase with tier. To be used effectively, an enchantress player needs to know what and when to enchant (similar to the sense necessary for a mystic’s stasis), and when to go on the offensive (given the shorter range and lower defense). With greater offensive potential comes less safety.

#Author’s notes

This is a first draft and I much appreciate your constructive criticism on everything from stat balances to sprites to ability balances and then some. If I am missing any information please let me know.

the rod sprite/name feels like a huge pain b/c of wands, staves and scepters

#3

Kinda cool.

#4

Would enchanted enemies be invincible or vulnerable to other enemies?
Would enchanting an enemy make it treat you as the spawner? For example if you enchant a circling Geb artifact would it circle you or circle Geb but shoot at it?
Otherwise a pretty cool idea, I’d turn it into a 0.5 radius AoE instead but that’s just my opinion. And because enemy damage is shit compared to your damage and enemy health is usually boosted compared to your health their shots should ignore def or something and you should be able to pally and warrior buff them.

I considered charms briefly, but I felt those were too similar to amulets that belong in the ring spot, so I guess the rod concept is a sort of a product of creative block haha.

Yes. I edited in that distinction. :sunglasses:

That’s a good idea, actually. I think ignoring defenses is important considering the dramatic differences between enemy entities and character entities’ ATK and DEF.

#6

Good idea

#7

seriously though, monster vs monster does not work..

#8

Wow… I pretty had this exact idea with the “charm” ability. Also, I don’t think a bow class with a robe would really fit in…

#9

As I said, maybe a half a tile AoE instead. And would they treat you as a spawner? (e.g. would worshipping priests circle you?) Could have some really cool uses such as ice sphering things and chipping at Geb rages with Nile artis. Would it count towards your sb?
