Tiered Abilities:
Headpieces, when key is pressed, will generate decoys that will take in damage for you until they are killed. They are called âshieldsâ, and stand 1 tile away from you at all times. They will spin around you at the speed listed. At the same time, the Held Effect of this class will provide a Defense bonus to anyone in range. Both the Key Held effect and the regular effect will activate at once, though the activated effect cannot be activated until all shields disappear or are killed.

Kami No Yoroi (ç„ăźé§; Armor of Divinity)
The teachings of my true leader flow into me, guiding me through the darkness. This armor is my pure heart.
Nice class! Initially, I was skeptical that giving a class heavy armor and a katana would be way too overpowered because of the range, damage, and tankiness. However, you got the stats to work out so that the Shogun does ~600 less damage than a knight, which seems pretty balanced based on the aforementioned benefits.
The ability is awesome, too. But, regarding piercing shots, how are those handled? Iâd assume they would penetrate the shield and (most likely) hit the player, unless theyâre shot at an odd angle. Another issue I have with these shields is that theyâre kind of uncertain (like the oreo). How would you know that their duration is ending? Perhaps they could flicker a few times before disappearing?
Piercing shots still hurt the shields and pierce through them too, so theyâre still a threat. As for the shields going away, Iâd have them flash like portals and bags do, to signify them disappearing.
descriptions could use some work, specifically the t5 and the t6.
a little odd wording here. maybe have "Itâs defensive capabilities are unquonquerable (donât know if I spelled that right) by nearly all other headpieces.
Rather than saying it has a bright and immaculate design, say something like, "A most amazing headpiece with a bright and immaculate design made from (insert super valuable red substance such as pyreâs scales or something), surrounded by mithril, the strongest and most desirable of all metals. A warm hum flows throughout it.
this is my take, feel free to ignore these or take something from them.
Sprites should be maximum 8x8. 6x6 and 7x7 are seen in a lot of places. The description suggestions are actually nice, though, so I may use them. Thanks!
oof forgot one thing. the t6 design should not be 8 high and 7 wide while everything else is 7x7. all other tiered abilities (except stars) follow the same basic pattern while just changing the colors. helms are another exception, but they stay the same size while just adding an extra out crop. I think you can add extra stuff in the middle for more freedom with the design, but donât increase the size of it completely.
I changed the designs on the inside of the UTs to make them unique in that aspect, and changed the shape of the Tier 6 a bit to make it unique as well. I donât try and follow that same principle all others do, so I went with it again, and went for something that makes it look cool while not making them super complicated.
I wasnât completely against it, and I completely understand if you want to add uniqueness, I was just pointing out the trend that the other abilities followed. I would just like the abilities to remain consistent, but itâs not the end all be all. but, then again, ninja stars already ruined it so meh.
I have a question. what do the shields look like? can you make a sprite for each tier? if yes thank you. if not, at least describe their appearance, because I am invisioning them sort of like a knightâs shield shot.
Sorry, Iâve been soloing a Shatters for the past 2 1/2 hours. (Itâs a Priest, shut up.)
For the Shields, Iâd more imagine them being pillars of sorts, to match the theme of the times the Shogun appeared in. This excludes the UTs.
Warlord would be a fire spirit that crackles as it fires.
Titan would be a similar concept to the Marble Sealâs Pillar for the Pillar, while the Shields would be lodestones of sorts.
Crusader would be a spirit holding a banner with a large red cross on it. Thereâd be a rare chance for it to also say âDeus Vult!â related things, such as⊠âWe will take Jerusalem!â.
As for the default skin, I didnât want that to be over-the-top. Itâs a default skin, and Iâd much rather make really cool skins as alternates, not the main one.
I just mainly used âShogunâ because they wear a lot of armor and are based around similar culture to what the Ninja is from. The âShogunâ is presented a lot, but I have an entirely different take on it than others.
Very well thought out, balanced and innovative class.
I personally think itâs a tiny bit on the OP side, as it fits the current armor break, armor pierce heavy meta far better than Knight, prot priest or Jugg warrior. Even with lower DPS than a knight, you have a heavy armor class that can maintain 76 defense with an HP ring, acrop and a decent mp heal pet, additional range from a katana, and an active effect perfected suited to the current meta. On top of that, you boost the defense of others as well.
One thing I really dislike about ninja is that the mp cost of the held effect is trivialized by a pet. It might as well not be there. This effect is more powerful than speedy. Have you thought about making the player unable to regenerate mana (from either Wis or their pet) when their ability is held down?
