Yo,
As a long time player I can’t deny how fun it was as an early player completing the entirety of the Forbidden jungle necro set or the Manor priest set. Unfortunately, UT sets in most cases just seem to be obsolete and vanity collections–especially considering the wide range of swapouts and the superior options that ST’s grant.
Wouldn’t it be cool though if you got set bonuses if and only if you equipped all four parts of the UT sets? I feel like this would be really cool–imagine equipping the whole crystal necro set and it gives you some defense to work with.
I feel like a good UT item set is clearly an anomaly in the meta of realm. The esben necro set is cool and the cult set is decent but they honestly just don’t seem worth all the hassle of allocating vault spots for to collect. I feel like having UT sets give bonuses only when all four parts are equipped would make them very unique and less vanity-like. Additionally, the fact that bonuses don’t apply until all four parts are equipped would make the combinations of ST’s generally more favorable but not as dominant as they are now. Additionally, I think this would promote lower level playing considerably. The addition of cool and good new UT’s for low level dungeons like the spider shuriken and the snake eye ring really opens up the possibility for unique UT sets dropping from low level content. I would be stoked to log into realm one day to find a spider UT set that was very unique. Additionally, the UT sets don’t have to be necessarily from the same dungeon like previous UT sets. I think mixing harder content-remakes of the early game content (say spider den and cdepths) would be really cool.
Some kinda cool ideas on full UT set bonuses
Coral Huntress Set: On equipping the full set, user takes twice as long to drown underwater. Additionally, the trap’s ability is buffed so that it slows AND paralyzes within its area as long as user is over 350 health.
Crystal Necromancer Set: On equipping the full set, user receives +5 defense. Additionally, when ability is used, player gains a temporary +1 to each of their stats (not including HP or MP) for each enemy caught within the area of the skull (So if there are 5 enemies within the radius, the user gains +5 to all their 6/8 stats temporarily).
Esben Necromancer Set: On equipping the full set, user receives an ability that says: whenever you slow an enemy there is a 15% chance for you to be struck by a beam of necromantic energy within a one tile radius from your character. You and allies within the pillar are purified of slowing effects. Enemies within the beam are petrified for 2 seconds. Additionally, when the user of the equipped set is struck by a slow debuff, there is a 50% chance to slow all enemies within a 6 tile radius from the character.
Purified Priest Set: On equipping the full set, the user gains an additional +107 HP bonus, putting the priest at 777 HP. Meanwhile, when the entire UT set is equipped the tome gains the ability to purify allies in a way that mimics the targeting wis-mod scaling of the sceptor of devastation (basically, 1 target + an additional per every 20 wis over 50, where the first target is always themselves).
This is all I could think of for the time being. But I think that this is something that should really be said. While the idea of the UT priest set may bring up a lot of the bad blood around puri, I honestly feel like the example I gave is a great example on how to make UT sets unique and fun to play on–but the target limit makes the item only effective in small groups at best. They have to be unique and different. Let me know if the idea of UT set perks is something you guys wish was more of a thing? If not, let me know what you hate about it.
