Why 2 ST Sets For Each Class Might Not Be a Bad Idea

#1

With the ST mix and matching update in play, ST sets have become more interesting. Gearing up isn’t about the best items anymore due to partial ST bonuses, and the new machine meme archer ST set has had me thinking;

‘‘Would it be a bad idea to implement more of that type of content into the game, just for partial ST bonuses?’’

It might not seem very useful by itself, but if you combine the right equipment you could get some hefty stat bonuses. I’m not a veteran rotmg player, but back in Wildshadow’s days you could equip two rings at once. Like more vitality but you lack an armor to wear. My suggestion proposes second ST class sets, which specialize in one particular stat, HP for example. On their own they don’t supply effecient stat bonuses, but if you combine them they can give a large bonus, but in a way where they aren’t really useful on their own, or even in the whole set together. Different classes ST would represent a stat most useful to them.

For example:

HP Knight Set

(excuse the horrible sprites, just something I threw together real quick, might edit later)

HP Sword

Damage: 50-100
Range: 4
Ignores defense of target, pierces
On Equip: +50 HP

HP Shield

Damage: 100-200
Range: 4
Stunned for 3 seconds
On Equip: +100 HP

HP Heavy Armor

+100 HP

HP ST Ring

+150 HP

Set Bonuses

  • 2 Pieces: +200 HP
  • 3 Pieces: +300 HP
  • Full Set: +400 HP

Just something I thought of real quick, I will balance things more and redo sprites when I find the time.

There is no way that is a good idea. Specializing in one stat is either overpowered or underpowered.

I like the idea. However, I’m not sure about them specialising in one specific stat- wouldn’t this mean all current STs would have to be re-worked? What I would suggest is to have them specialise in a specific playstyle.

Eg, i believe the current knight set is one that specialises in damage (offensive playstyle), what about having another that focuses on ability (more of a support playstyle)? So it would have little defense bonus, not be very offensive, but would high wis and mp bonus.

So its not quite as specialised as one set for each stat, but by equiping both sets together you could get interesting combinations, albeit some more useful than others.

It’s still a cool idea, although unbalanced xD imagine reaching almost 1600 hp, but only 40 defense on Knight xD

Yes, they shouldn’t add any STs that are there for the sole purpose of providing partial ST benefits, each ST should have it’s own use.

I think some of the STs we have now should be reworked before they make more.

Only the necro, samurai, ninja and trickster sets are good with all the items equipped together. So, they will have a lot to do. And in some sets, only 1 item is decent, so yeah, you are right and they should already have been reworked.

That’s only really early WS time though. The 4 equipment slots as we know them today have been in the game for a very long time.

I don’t think Deca have ever explicitly said there would only be one ST set per class. What they’re doing right now is giving at least one to each class, but I don’t think they have any plans to stop there.

STs basically require money to be spent in order to be obtained. Why would they ever stop making more?

Everyone would just get Ring+Armor and use actually good Weapons and Abilities with them.

Nobody would bother with the STs that give bonus Spd or Vit while Wis would be extremely situational at best.

From a marketing standpoint, I doubt they would sell items that are explicitly boring stat sticks instead of whipping up something that actually looks semi-interesting and fun.

Did everyone forget that ST means “Special Themed”?

Did everyone forget what “special” means?

Did everyone forget that having more ST Sets might not make it “special”?

This is already done with the sets.
The only difference between your idea, and what Deca is already doing, is that their ST sets are interesting and exciting.
The idea of adding items which just throw what they are for right in your face in a game where the most addictive and fun part is the HUGE variety of items is absurd.

No personal offense meant, but this is a horrible idea.
You are obviously putting a fair amount of effort into your ideas, so please keeping coming up with new ideas!
