Notes
The Crystal Sword is a utility weapon with the highest practical range of non-vanity swords, one tile higher than tiered options. The Pixie-Enchanted Sword and Divinity’s beams have higher range but do not hit all shots at that range. It exchanges damage in the process, being even weaker than the T8 Ravenheart Sword. Despite being noticably weaker, CSword allows players to more easily hit dangerous-to-approach enemies like Oryx the Mad God 2.
History
This item was originally designed as the Mithril Sword which was possibly introduced in Build 59 (Jan 2010) of the Wild Shadow era (Jan 2010) when it was mistakenly given a range of 6.4.
In Build 111 (Feb 2011) Mithril Sword was removed as a drop from enemies.
In Build 117.1 (June 2011), the Mithril Sword was removed from the game and replaced with the new Crystal Sword, changing all preexisting Mithril Swords into Crystal Swords.
When first released, Crystal Sword used to have the following sprite, prior to a redesign:
Before Exalt Version 1.3.0.0 (Dec 2020), this item had the following sprites:
Before Exalt Version 1.5.0.0 (May 2021), this item had a Feed Power of 400.
Before Exalt Version 2.3.2.0 (June 2022), this item was soulbound.
Before Exalt Version 3.3.5.0 (Mar 2023), this item dealt 180-210 Damage.
During the 2017 April Fools event, the name and sprite of the Crystal Sword (and its shots) were temporarily changed to become those of the old Mithril Sword, though functionally the Crystal Sword was unchanged. This joke swap was repeated in the April Fools events the following years. The description, “You should go to the Nexus and show everyone!” may be a reference to a flash animation made by Khorde.
