The Abyss Idol is the Treasure Room Boss of the Abyss of Demons.

The tormented demons of the underworld created a golden idol from what little valuable ore could be found in the abyss, enchanting it with fiery magic. They worship the effigy as a protector that will one day liberate their souls from damnation. |

The Abyss Idol is dark and dormant in the middle of the room until it is damaged, upon which it will turn gold and activate. The entrance to the room will seal off with lava once the fight begins.
It will begin to fire spreads of 3 golden bullets at the nearest player. It will also constantly fire radial bursts of golden waves around it, as well as constantly fire large golden blasts in 4 directions that inflict heavy damage and Paralyzed. It will also constantly throw yellow bombs that turn large parts of the floor into temporary lava.
The Abyss Idol temporarily goes invulnerable as it despawns all lava currently in the room. It then continues the firing pattern from the first phase, but replaces the spreads of small gold bullets with a three-armed spiral of them that rotates clockwise. Instead of summoning lava using aimed bombs, it will start throwing its lava bombs rapidly in a circular motion around the room.
Once the boss dies, all lava disappears from the room.

Note: Unlike Archdemon Malphas, a Potion of Defense is a guaranteed drop from the Abyss Idol.
It’s important to avoid the paralyzing shots; if you get paralyzed while in lava, you may not have enough time to react and nexus. Also note that lava will be spawning as you are damaging the idol, so make sure you are in a safe place!
In his second phase, you can circle around him slowly, as his large blasts will not be able to hit you.
Another tip - If you think you cannot kill the Abyss Idol, then kill Malphas, and then go back to the treasure room and try again.
The Sword of Illumination was a limited-time drop which sometimes replaces the Demon Blade as a drop. (during June 2015 Month of the Mad God and August 2016 Month of the Mad God). And now only has the chance to drop during Month of the Mad God events.
