Notes
Despite its high damage, this sword’s slower rate of fire gives it less DPS (damage per second) against enemies than other rare or high tier swords, such as the Sword of Acclaim or Pirate King’s Cutlass. It is best used in dungeons where it can kill monsters in just one shot or in fights against enemies that inflict Weak. This sword’s slightly-increased range also increases its utility. The Ancient Stone Sword is usually referred to by the unfortunate yet humorous acronym “A.S.S.”

Statistically, the Ancient Stone Sword is a sidegrade from the Crystal Sword, as it trades some range for slightly higher DPS. However, one can abuse the high damage per shot and slower fire rate to spend less time in close quarters with an enemy while still dealing the same damage as other swords, effectively making it an upgrade.

The Ancient Stone Sword shines in dungeons like Wine Cellars, where the environment can be a little too dangerous to get in deep. With the extended range and high damage-per-shot, it is quite easy to hit a few shots on Oryx at a safe distance and build up soulbound damage; for instance, a maxed Warrior does an average of 700+ damage and can pump above a thousand when buffed by a Paladin, allowing the soulbound threshold to be reached with just a few easy shots.

This sword is also great to use in the Tomb of the Ancients, as its great damage and increased range allow quick soulbound damage while still allowing some safety from raging Ancients. However, during FFA (“free-for-all”) Tombs, which are much more dangerous than well-planned “clean” Tombs, it might be safer to use the more common Crystal Sword in case of catastrophe. For more information on how to safely accomplish a clean Tomb, see this guide

As mentioned above, the Ancient Stone Sword is an especially sought-after weapon for the Warrior. The Warrior’s high max attack of 75, combined with their Berserk buff, gives an oustandingly high DPS of around 3800. With the help of the Paladin’s Damaging buff, this can be further boosted to just under 6000 DPS, enough to shred most enemies in a matter of seconds.

Notably, this sword deals the highest DPS of all swords after about 155 defense, making it efficient in clearing enemies with ridiculous amounts of defense. This is especially useful when clearing Abandoned Switches in The Shatters, as they have a whopping 200 defense. Keep in mind that this only holds true for as long as an enemy’s defense remains high; if they are inflicted with Armor Broken by a Knight wielding a Shield of Ogmur, it may be wise to swap out to another sword.
