Black Blade Ozuchi is a boss who can appear in specific dungeons or events, and is the first main boss of the Hidden Interregnum.

Behavior (Dungeon and Realm)

If a dungeon has the “Syndicate Takeover IV” modifier, then Ozuchi will spawn after the dungeon’s boss is defeated and initiate a special battle after several seconds. During Realm events, he will instead spawn after a certain number of Heroes of Oryx are defeated.

Phase 1

Ozuchi fires arrowheads of pink bullets in all directions. After taking enough damage, he will change to firing the arrowheads in 4 directions alongside a messy radial barrage of bright pink shots.

Phase 2

Ozuchi creates four “arms” of Armor Breaking pink petals that rotate in opposite directions, each arm having gaps to dodge through. Ozuchi will also be firing a storm of slow blue and red slashes in all directions. After he takes enough damage, he will despawn the old arms and create 8 arms at once instead of 4.

Phase 3

Ozuchi fires blue slashes, white spears, and pink spinners in all directions while throwing out rings of Dazing bombs at a fixed distance around him. Note that some of the rotating petal arms from the previous phase may still be active during this one.

Behavior (Interregnum)

Some time after players enter the Hidden Interregnum, Ozuchi will appear and confront them. After a delay, he will begin his attack.
”You’ve arrived, have you finally decided to accept your fate and end Oryx’s tyranny?”
”Are you so blinded by selflishness that you can not see the bigger picture? We will be vindicated!”
”ENOUGH! I will cut you down where you stand.”

Phase 1

Ozuchi picks one of two attack patterns to use at random. During either one, he will radiate short-ranged bursts of spiked balls to prevent players from coming close.

  • Ozuchi marks 8 evenly-spaced zones around him with harmless stars, then fires massive “arms” of red and blue bullets matching the zones. These arms then fragment and start rotating in alternating directions, forming 5 distinct rings. Red shots rotate clockwise, while blue ones rotate counter-clockwise.
  • Ozuchi divides the room in half with a line of stars, which then splits into red and blue segments that start moving around the room in circular patterns, with each segment circling at a different distance. Red shots rotate clockwise, while blue ones rotate counter-clockwise.
Phase 2

At 66% HP, Ozuchi summons Izel the Grand Shaman to assist him. Izel will circle Ozuchi while firing continuous waves of silver spiked balls outwards, while Ozuchi himself will fire a rotating 2-way shotgun of silver crescents that gradually slow down before returning to him. At the same time, rings of light rays will sequentially strike the arena, starting from the outside and converging on the center before repeating.

Ozuchi cannot be harmed for this phase; Izel is the main target instead and must be reduced to 30% HP, upon which he becomes invulnerable and Ozuchi becomes vulnerable in turn.

Phase 3

At 33% HP, Ozuchi summons two more allies to his side: Pirate Queen Ramm and Nefret the Pharaoh, alongside two invincible portals. Ramm will be in the middle of the arena throwing bombs all around her, while Nefret will rotate around the map shooting a spiral of gold shots. Ozuchi, Izel, and the portals will be periodically rotating around the arena, firing spirals of knives.

Initially, Nefret is the only vulnerable target. Once Nefret has been reduced to 30% HP, they will go invulnerable and leave Ramm vulnerable instead. Once both of them are at 30% HP, the battle will progress to the next phase.

Phase 4

Ozuchi heals himself to 50% HP, the arena drastically shrinks in size, and all players are inflicted with Skull Sick for the duration of the phase. Ozuchi’s three allies remain stationary at the edges of the platform while firing slow rings of blue arrows, periodically moving to Ozuchi and rotating by one position before returning to their outer positions. Two portals also circle in place by the left and right side of the platform, firing rings of returning red arrows.

When Izel, Ramm, or Nefret are brought to 2% HP, they will become invulnerable. Bringing all three of them to critical health will make Ozuchi vulnerable for the last time.

Once Ozuchi is reduced to 2% HP, the arena returns to normal as all of his allies fade away, leaving their individual loot behind. Ozuchi himself will create a portal and leap into it before vanishing, clearing the way for The Wanderer to appear.
