This enemy does not move. It remains hidden underground with its teeth barely poking out until a player comes near it, upon which it extends out of the ground, flashes red, and snaps shut to deal high AoE damage and Paralyzed before retreating back underground and going through an attack cooldown. It can only be harmed while above ground.
Bog Jaws telegraph their position and incoming attack by flashing red, which can be easily evaded by paying attention to the space right below the player.
It can be spotted with the minimap as a red dot, blowing it’s cover. In most cases, if there is no clearly visible enemy where a red dot is, it is most likely a Bog Jaws. Even so, detecting them 100% of the time is nearly impossible due to them occasionally blending in with terrain, so it is a better idea to simply play cautiously and be mindful of any moving enemies, as they are the far greater threat.
It’s highly recommended to take them out as soon as possible to avoid accidents with enemies that follow you, most notably the Sulfuric Centipede and Swamp Stalker. The Paralyzed effect easily sets players up for a near instant death or nexus.
