The Book of Geb is often seen as a much more useful alternative than both the Tome of Holy Guidance and the Tome of Purification because it offers a lot of the abilities that the Tome of Holy Guidance and the Tome of Purification used to boast alone, while also being tradable.

It gives both Speedy and Healing effects while also having the ability to remove negative status conditions on both the user and allies. Note however the Tome of Purification has more range and heals more.

Be aware that the heal is granted before the status removal takes place; therefore, you will not be healed when activating the tome if you are under the effects of Sick.

Descriptions in-game are currently bugged, causing wis-affecting equipment to appear to have twice the effect they really do (this effect is only for the descriptions- not the actual result). This page shows the actual formulas, not the ones based off the (incorrect) descriptions.

History:

This tome was given a revision. The tome originally did 200 HP heal and gave stat bonuses: +30 HP, +15 MP, +5 DEF, +3 VIT, +3 WIS.
Before the revision, there was no reason to use either the Tome of Purification or the Tome of Holy Guidance. The power of this tome was simply too much, and outweighed the smaller MP cost of the Tome of Holy Guidance or the slightly higher heals from the Tome of Purification (Extra +4 wisdom on the Tome of Purification gives it a slightly higher heal amount and range).
With the revision to the Book of Geb, however, the book has been brought down much closer to balance, though it’s still very powerful.

This item used to drop in a cyan bag before the addition of orange bags in Patch X.18.0.
