Many players see The Book of Geb as a more useful alternative than carrying both the Tome of Holy Guidance and the Tome of Purification because it offers a combination of those two tomes’ abilities, and being tradable is a lot easier to obtain than the soulbound Tome of Purification. It gives both Speedy and Healing effects while also having the ability to remove negative status effects on both the user and allies. Note however the Tome of Purification has more range and heals more.

Be aware that the heal is granted before the negative status removal takes place; therefore if you are under the effects of Sick when you activate this tome, it will clear the Sick but will not grant you the heal. A second activation would be needed after the Sick is cleared to receive a heal.

History:
Book of Geb was originally more powerful when first released. It healed for 200 HP and gave stat bonuses: +30 HP, +15 MP, +5 DEF, +3 VIT, +3 WIS, as well as removing negative status effects and doing speedy. The developers received a lot of criticism when the tome was released like this, as it meant they were effectively offering for sale though the mystery boxes a superior tradeable version of the soulbound Tome of Purification.

This item used to drop in a cyan bag before the addition of orange bags in Patch X.18.0.
