The Candy Gnome runs away from players, stopping every once in a while.
The fastest way to search for a Candy Gnome is to follow the Midlands road, which is the second road from the shore. Most of the time, Candy Gnomes will try to run away from you. If you are not very fast, you may lose sight of it. When you see one, don't call it out until it's dead because it WILL run away from you.
There are other ways to find a candy gnome quickly. One way is to use a dagger class with max speed and a speed ring so you cover more space in a shorter amount of time.
Another way is to have some friends or guild mates help you find one by spreading out in the midlands. This strategy will save more time because more people are looking for one, increasing the chance that one will be found. Once one is found, you can just call it out in guild chat or call it out in public chat and your friends will teleport to you because they will usually have you locked and others won't have time to teleport to you.
With all this information, don't go looking for one when you do not have any maxed stats, the Candyland Hunting Grounds dungeon itself is fairly hard, so think before you enter.
