How & Why to find a Candyland Hunting Grounds

How

Candy Gnome

The only enemy that drops this dungeon is the elusive Candy Gnome. The Candy Gnome can only be found in the Midlands, where you usually see Wasp Queens, Green Slimes, Horned Drakes and such. It doesn’t spawn in the lesser godlands, but different zones could overlap. The best way to find it is to run on the Midlands road, possibly with a high speed class.

If you feel that you are incapable of soloing this dungeon, then it is a good idea to call for others, usually through the abbreviation ‘CLAND!!!’. Historically, calling “cland” has been a lure to an event boss, dangerous situation, or just done to troll; but the recent dungeon calling feature has all but erradicated that.

Candy Key You can also buy the Candy Key from the Nexus for 200 Realm Gold.

This dungeon is rather unique in that you have infinite chances for loot; you can fight the bosses as much as you like. They have chances at dropping temporary stat boosts and Untiered items like the Candy-Coated Armor and the Candy Ring. Candy Rings are particularly common, and great for forge material.

The most popular reason to run this dungeon is the fact that the bosses drop the entire Swoll Paladin set, which includes the extremely useful Pixie Enchanted Sword.

How to spawn a Boss

Bosses will only have a chance to spawn after killing Big Minion types of monsters (Wishing Trolls, Big Creampuffs, Rototos, Unicorns, and Beefy Fairies). After killing them, a boss of that type has a chance to spawn in the boss room.

Do not forget to shoot at Gumball Machines as they can drop Candy Rings and Rock Candies to help you in battle.

Stacking

Bosses do not need to be killed immediately. If a boss has spawned but players keep killing Big Minions then subsequent bosses get stacked. They are held in reserve until the first boss is killed. This means there is no need to rush back to the boss room for every boss, you can keep clearing and kill the boss when you get to it. These bosses will appear as soon as you kill the previous boss, so be careful.

Despawning and Resetting Rooms

Being an infinite dungeon, enemies will despawn (or disappear) from certain rooms if there is no player in or near the room. When you find a great room with the monsters you just have to kill, don’t move out too far/too long; but you can leave to generate new ones. Since the dungeon cannot sense a player when invisible, a lone Rogue can cloak in order to save their skin. This can also be done simply by teleporting away (assuming there’s nobody around).

Bosses

Each boss has similar drops - they can all drop Wine Cellar Incantations, Candy-Coated Armor, stat potions, parts of the Swoll Paladin Set, and other equipment. However, some are easier to fight than others. For the best information go to the wiki page on it. But here are some of the tips and tricks to kill each one.

Gigacorn

Gigacorn

A knight’s worst nightmare. Gigacorn is ironically one of the hardest, if not the hardest, and most dangerous of all the bosses. All of his 70 or 90 damage shots pierce armor, which makes defense entirely useless on him. He is difficult to tackle on for a melee class if you do not know what you are doing! Gigacorn normally stands on one spot and spams bullets at you, so circling/streaming, or kiting back in general is ideal for most classes. But what makes the Gigacorn dangerous, is that without notice, he could suddenly lunge at you, still firing bullets, making them stack. For a ranged class, simply circle him, and ignore his lunge, because there is a low chance of him getting you if you keep your distance. For a melee, this is a different story. Because they can’t keep their distance, they are easily vulnerable to the lunge attack (which has been known for instakilling knights) if attempting to circle. What must be done, is to practically treat a Gigacorn fight, like a bullfight. Yes, you are practically fighting a bull here. Do not attempt to press onto the Gigacorn during his stationary attacks, but keep a distance away from him (but do not have him out of your sight, or he will not lunge at you!), and wait until he lunges at you. While he lunges, quickly dodge the bullets, and throw your shots in while doing so. Rinse and repeat till he’s dead.
If you are a knight and/or have other players who are knights, it is easy to keep the boss permastunned. If a knight hits a shield stun on Gigacorn, then you should be able to mave in, while spamming shield bash.

Desire Troll

Desire Troll

This boss if difficult if you are not very confident at dodging. many of his shots are shotguns, accompanied by red bombs. On a melee class, the easiest way for a melee to get damage is to circle, but be warned because the shotguns could clip you. The main shots you have to be wary of are the stars and the curved shots. They both inflict stun, making you unable to damage him. Ranged classes do not have to rotate, but is still a good method.

Megarototo

Megarototo

Despite their size, Megarototos are not too dangerous, unless you do not know his phases. The Megaroto has two phases. In his first phase, he fires high-powered bullets in 8 directions, at 45° each, and in the second, fires a “flamethrower”. During his first phase, just simply dodge his bullets, which are very easy to dodge, and in the second phase, circle him. During the fight, the Megarototo will spawn tiny rototos, which dont do much damage but can be tedious

Swoll Fairy

Swoll Fairy

Swoll Faries, are one of the easier bosses, unless you have low def. What makes them so dangerous for squishy players is that every single bullet confuses, and can deal a fair amount of damage unless you have high def, plus the confusion can drag you staight into a shotgun, leading to an insta-kill. If you have low def, dodge those bullets as best as possible, and stay away from the little fairies. But if you have high def, just sit near the Swoll Fairy and don’t really mind her attacks, because she can’t really kill you with just one shot per few moments. Just don’t dblade/ep her, or you will get shotgunned. She will also spawn fairies which constantly shoot confuse shots towards you.

Spoiled Creampuff

Spoiled Creampuff

The Spoiled Creampuff is probably one of the most time-consuming boss fights, due to his eratic movement. All his shots do 100+ damage and is constantly respawning minions that slow you to your demise, the Creampuff is overall one of the more dangerous bosses. Your best bet is to clear the minions on one side of him, then attack the Creampuff himself. Also, the Creampuff charges at a suprisingly high speed, similar to the Gigacorn, which could mean bad things for your character if you are slowed. Unmaxed melees should approach with extra caution.

Final Boss

In order to spawn the “final boss” of the dungeon, one of every type of boss must be defeated. Once every single one is defeated, the “final boss” will spawn.

Cupcake

Cupcake

The Cupcake is the final boss of the dungeon, spawning once at least one of every other boss is defeated. It will appear at a small yellow room located randomly within the dungeon, possibly even spawning at the original spawn room. The boss is also very simple and easy to predict. Despite this, do not let your guard down. Its shots armor pierce, hit multiple targets, pass through cover, and inflict Mushroom Hallucinating. The Cupcake simply shoots radial bursts of shots while chasing players. It is best to drag it around the room and deal damage while rotating. Although, if you’re in a group, it is most likely people will inflict many debuffs on it and kill it quickly, in which case just don’t sit on the boss. The Cupcake also has a higher item droprate than other bosses, so it is worthwhile to try and spawn it.

The Cupcake is only spawned once per dungeon, and killing it counts towards dungeon completion. However, you can still respawn the other bosses after defeating the Cupcake, so don’t worry about trolls ending your farming session.

Overview

This dungeon is a worthwhile one for farming some decent UT’s, a powerful ST set, and a few potions. Make sure to give it a try if you see one, and bring some friends to help clear!
