The Kogbold Steamworks is an extremely dangerous dungeon and one of the Exaltation dungeons, boosting Vitality. The dungeon is a source of various Greater Stat Increase Potions, high-level gear, and several Untiered items, as well as the Kogbold Enhancement Core. The Advanced version of the dungeon is additionally a rare source of dust and engravings.

The portal to the Kogbold Steamworks is a guaranteed drop from the Kogbold Expedition Engine, an encounter in the godlands. It will drop both a regular and Advanced portal.

This dungeon must be completed to earn ‘Conqueror of the Realm‘, ‘Hero of the Nexus’ and ‘Realm of the Mad God’ fame bonuses.

The Realm Eye says:

The Steamworks, home to the Kogbolds, is a city-sized factory which produces all manner of technology unlike anything within the realm. Within live the Kogbolds, working to produce the secreations under the absolute command of the Factory Control Core residing at its center. The factory’s emergence within the realm has been signaled by expeditionary forces sent out to survey and subjugate other realm denizens.

Layout

The Kogbold Steamworks is a large dungeon that only has 1 path which starts from the spawn room to the boss room, there are no branching paths possible. The path consists of a randomized series of pre-set room and pathway types, each of which is staffed with enemies and riddled with hazards that must be maneuvered through.

The path will lead to an encounter with the Kogbold Flying Machine that protects the boss room.

Advanced Kogbold Steamworks

The Advanced Kogbold Steamworks is a substantially harder version of the Kogbold Steamworks that can be accessed via a different portal, and has a base difficulty of 10. The Advanced version of the dungeon has the following changes compared to the original:

• All enemies and hazards (excluding Steam Vents) deal +25% damage and gain +15% HP.
• All enemies grant +90% XP and BXP when slain, and have 30% increased drop rates.
• All enemies and some turrets will have altered behavior patterns and gain slight increases to bullet damage and speed; see their individual pages for details.
• Kogbold Overseers may be replaced by Kogbold Master Overseer.
• Certain rooms will have special Kogbold Turrets added to them; these will aim directly at players.
• The boss room of the Kogbold Flying Machine is covered in Steam Vents that activate in an alternating pattern.
• The Factory Control Core gains an additional survival phase at the end of the fight.
• The Factory Control Core drops 2 extra Greater Potions, Dust, Engraving Chests, and a special Mark.

Note that the Advanced Steamworks can still get Dungeon Modifiers.

History

• This dungeon was added in Exalt Version 3.3.0.0 (Dec 2022).

• Prior to Exalt Version 3.3.3.0 (Feb 2023), this dungeon had the following map:

• Prior to Exalt Version 3.3.3.0 (Feb 2023), all enemies were immune to stun and daze while the Kogbold Worker in particular was immune to paralyze. All small enemies were also immune to paralyze, and enemies and hazards in general gave less XP. High visibility, plumber apprentice, and welder kogbolds were more aggressive, getting much closer to players. Most turrets were invulnerable and immune to stun and stasis save for the Kogbold Laser, and the Steam Turrets had much longer firing and resting times.
