Ocean Trench (Rev. 13)

Last updated: build 122.0.1
The Ocean Trench is an underwater dungeon with a high level of difficulty. The entrance to the dungeon is dropped by the Hermit God. It is a source of mana potions and the Coral Huntress set which consists of the Coral Bow, Coral Venom Trap, Coral Silk and the Coral Ring; many of which are favorites among maxed players. As an added factor of difficulty, an oxygen meter is added below your character. This meter gradually goes down, until the screen flashes red, and you lose your HP very quickly. To refill your oxygen meter, simply stand on top of a stream of bubbles coming up from the ground for a few seconds. The ocean trench is a rift in the ocean that has available oxygen in certain spots. The water is not moving, so it is possible to move around and fight, but the creatures living here have established kingdoms and will defend them with their lives.

Dungeon Boss:

Thessal is the final boss in the Ocean Trench. She has powerful coral bombs that explode and split into multiple bombs to inflict more damage, which is nearly impossible to survive without maxed defense. This, combined with her armor breaking attacks can send brave warriors to their graves under the sea.
Thessal is currently the only boss to have a possible chance for extra loot after defeating her. At a purely random chance, Thessal will crumple over the loot bag and ask the adventurers, “Is King Alexander alive?”. If you respond correctly with “He lives and reigns and conquers the world”, she will thank you and spawn 3 coral gifts, otherwise she will shout “You speak LIES” and blow up. If you are standing on her when the phrase is not said within a few seconds, you will die. This scenario is close to the “Legend of Thessalonike”.

The Legend of Thessalonike (Greek myth)

According to the myth, when Thessalonike’s big brother named Alexander the Great came home from one of his conquests he brought something home with him. It was a flask of water from the Fountain of Immortality, Alexander bathed his sisters hair in it. When Alexander died, Thessalonike jumped off a cliff and attempted to drown herself in the ocean. Instead of drowning, she transformed into a mermaid.

So for hundreds of years in the Aegean Sea, Thessalonike would come to sailors in the boats and ask them one question, “Is Alexander the king alive?” You have two ways of answering that question. Tell her “He lives and reigns and conquers the world” and she’ll let you sail on your merry way with a helpful wind. Any other answer would transform her into the raging Gorgon, bent on sending the ship and every sailor on board to the bottom.

If you are soloing, be cautious around the Sea Mare, since getting caught up in the paralyzing bullets it shoots can mean death or nexusing, since there is no one safe to teleport to.

Most often, 2 or 3 hearty souls will rush the dungeon while the rest of the players stay at the start. Once the rushers reach Thessal, the group at the start will teleport to the rushers. If you miss the TP, are unmaxed, or are not playing a maxed melee, it is very difficult to get soulbound damage on Thessal. Be warned!
