Notes
This is a defense-oriented lute that occupies the opposite niche as the offense-oriented Wavecrest Concertina, summoning a Pharaoh’s mask that orbits in place and inflicts Weak on nearby enemies. Notably, this item is the only consistent source of inflicting Weak on enemies in the game. This effect reduces enemy attack damage by 10%, which seems small, but can make a difference with endgame enemies that may inflict hundreds of damage per shot. Note that unlike the Concertina which summons its parrots on the cursor, the mask is summoned on the player’s position, which could be problematic for a relatively squishy class like the Bard.
The reactive proc of the item also helps with survivability, though its rather lengthy cooldown prevents it from being too powerful.
Like tiered lutes, this item does not have a cooldown for ability use. A cooldown only exists for the reactive proc.
The Pharaoh’s Mask has the following sprite:
History
Before Exalt Version 1.5.0.0 (May 2021), the Pharaoh’s Mask would randomly wander instead of orbiting in place, had a slightly larger size, and had a radius of 2.5 squares.
