Polaris

Last updated: Exalt Version 2.0.4.0 (Sep 2021)
Inactive Polaris Polaris

Polaris is one of the three bosses of the Ice Tomb, along with Frimar and Glacius. Polaris can heal the other bosses and inflict a variety of status effects with his attacks.

This is a slightly more durable, reskinned version of Nut, a Tomb of the Ancients boss.

The Realm Eye says:
Aspirant to Nut, Polaris passed the time trapped in a glacier by practicing all of his idol’s moves.
The eons spent in the Ice Tomb allowed him to fully master the abilities of the old god he admired.

Behavior

Awakening Phase
Taunt: ”How dare you disrupt our meditation with the ancients?!”

Upon being awakened, Polaris circles around the boss room. He does not fire any bullets, and they periodically heal Frimar and Glacius for 100 HP . After a certain amount of damage, he fires rings of weakening bullets and shoots ice arrows and jester bolts at the nearest player. If more damage is dealt to them, they will fully awaken and move on to the next phase. They cannot be stasised until they are fully woken.

Battle Phase
Taunts:
”You two, pick up the slack! These intruders doubt our mastery!”
“Your frozen souls shall decorate our walls!”
“My magic will easily make you chill out!”

Polaris stops firing the rings of weakening bullets and begins firing rings of multicolored boomerangs that inflict a variety of status effects. As he takes damage, he will begin firing ice arrows and aqua bolts (later in pairs), and bursts of blue paralyze shots. They still continue to heal Frimar and Glacius periodically for 100 HP.

Occasionally Polaris will flash and start hugging one of the other tomb bosses, or one of the other tomb bosses will flash and start hugging Polaris.

At a certain amount of damage, Polaris starts spawning Ice Artifacts. When their health is low enough, they move into their rage phase.

Rage Phase
Taunt: ”I’LL SHOW YOU A MELTDOWN!”

In his rage phase, Polaris will turn red, become temporarily invulnerable, and quickly chase nearby players. His attacks become much more frequent and he spams all of them simultaneously, along with a barrage of blue paralyze bullets that sweeps the area clockwise. If there is nobody in their detection range then he will remain stationary.

Death
Once Polaris is killed, a soul will spawn at his location. Once all three bosses are dead, the soul will despawn, dropping the respective boss’ loot.

Tips and Strategies

At the beginning of his rage phase, he will always shoot his non-directed blue paralyzing bullets towards the east (right, if angled at 0°), so that side is best avoided when he is nearly about to rage.

If you get paralyzed while he is in rage mode, you are done for unless you manage to kill him, stun him, use Holy Water or Purification, or just spam your health potions.
