When used, spawns Prancer, who speaks “Happy Holidays!” in the chat, and follows the player in the manner of a pet for 30 seconds before disappearing.
During Christmas/Yuletide events a temporary stat boost is conferred on the player whenever the Reins item is used. The item can be used at other times of year but it will not provide any stat increases.
The level of boost from Prancer’s Reins (+20 WIS) is some way higher than that gained from the highest wisdom ring, Geb’s Ring of Wisdom (+10 WIS). This can be useful for any class that utilises a Wisdom Modifier on their ability item. For non-Wismod classes, typically Cupid’s Reins (+100 MP) is more effective, assuming you have the choice between which Reins item to use.
The 20 points of WIS provided by this item approximately translates to an extra 1.2 MP replenished per second, equalling 36 MP over the 30 seconds, assuming you never hit max MP throughout the time the buff is active. For more information see MP vs WIS.
