When used, spawns Rudolph, who speaks “Happy Holidays!” in the chat, and follows the player in the manner of a pet for 30 seconds before disappearing.
During Christmas/Yuletide events a temporary stat boost is conferred on the player whenever the Reins item is used. The item can be used at other times of year but it will not provide any stat increases.
The level of boost from Rudolph’s Reins (+10 DEF) is the same as wearing the highest tiered defense ring, Ring of Unbound Defense (+10 DEF). This can be useful for any class when wishing to have a short term defensive increase.
Introduced in Patch X.20.0 (December 2017) along with the other Santa’s Reins Companions.
Possibly a little surprisingly, given there are eight traditional reindeer associated with Santa, and eight Character Stats in Realm, one might have expected Blitzen to be used for the DEF Reins, however presumably due to his “more famous” status, Rudolph was chosen instead.
