Secret Sheep Level

The Secret Sheep Level is somewhat of a running joke in the realm community but also a mystery that has never been solved. In 2010, november 13th ApolloROTMG uploaded this video and made a post on the wild shadow forum saying:

“Haha, the developpers really did a good job there! It’s awesome. :p

Though, I was expecting there to be something special outside, like a secret dungeon, item or enemy, just something for those who manage to make it out of Valhalla. ;)

In the video he had found a way outside of “Valhalla” which was Nexus or the Lobby as it was commonly named back then and expressed dissapoint for a lack of easter eggs outside of the Nexus.
A comment was followed to Apollo’s post, by Skoad, designer and creator behind various RotMG content such as the Tomb of the Ancients and Dreamscape Labyrinth saying that he had decompiled a Testing Build 108.1 client and found that the Nexus sheep had a probability of: 0.001 to drop a Fluffy Portal on death.

Several questions arose as it was not possible to kill these sheep (as it still is not) and that there might have been a “secret dungeon” afterall. This started the idea of a secret sheep level, however Skoad also made sure to mention that it was no longer in the XML at Testing Build 108.2 which indicated the devs were quick to remove this “secret”.

Not long after, amitp would reply to Apollo’s thread with the comment:
Moo
There Is No Secret Sheep Level
” - Amitp, 2010.
This was an obvious reference to the secret cow level in diablo and many though it was just a joke and reference to Diablo from that point onwards.

Later a screenshot would rise to the debate, posted by Apollo:

Secret Sheep Level Ingame

Since this there has been no mentions, proof nor records of the Secret Sheep Level and it still remains a mystery. It is also a theory that the secret sheep level was never meant to be in game and that it was just a placeholder map for a lighting test Amitp was making for the game which can be seen here.

It is still unknown whether the above screenshot is real or not, and if real: unclear how to access this dungeon.
