Some may use this wand on a priest when preferring stronger healing from one’s Tome over damage, such as when crossing magma in The Shatters, or during the Marble Colossus’ final ‘survival’ phase.
Due to this wand’s particularly long range (1.01 tiles further than tiered wands), it can also be used to kill certain bosses without even ‘activating’ them, for example Dr. Terrible in the Mad Lab.
This is a video from when the Conducting Wand also had 10 range and could be used to cleanly snipe Dr. Terrible. The same approach can be used with St. Abraham’s Wand.
Release 25.0.0 (Oct 2014) featured changes to the Wands category of weapons including a shortening of range. This affected almost all wands, but not St. Abraham’s Wand (another exception was the Spicy Wand of Spice). This, as a result, gave the Abe’s Wand its special use, as it was one of the few wands to retain a long-enough range to allow the killing of certain bosses without ‘activating’ them. Notable examples were Dr. Terrible as mentioned in Notes above, and Nikao the Azure Dragon/Nikao the Defiler and Feargus the Obsidian Dragon/Feargus the Demented from the Lair of Draconis, before that dungeon’s reworking in 2019.
This video is an example of sniping the Dragons in the pre-rework LoD with St. Abraham’s Wand.
