Summoner Class Guide

Summoner

Overview

Introduced in Exalt Version 1.4.0.0 (Mar 2021), the Summoner is a wand class focused on summoning minions to support the player with damage or utility. With the various UTs available to her, she can offer multiple playstyles, allowing either aggressive or solid play. If you like dealing high damage from afar, or being highly aggressive for damage, this class is for you.

Stat Analysis

The Summoner boasts a high DEX cap of 75 to deal high damage, a decent 60 SPD for mobility, and 385 MP and 75 WIS to bolster the Summoner’s ability. While the low 50 ATK is not much of a concern, her survivability is low, having 670 HP, 25 DEF and 40 VIT. Combined with the robes that the Summoner wears, she is very fragile, relying on her DPS, range and dodging skills to slay monsters and stay alive.

Equipment Choices

Weapon

The Summoner’s weapon of choice is the Wand. Tiered wands are piercing weapons with high range but low damage. This allows the Summoner to deal decent damage from afar, considering her fragility. A decent amount of UT wands sacrifice range and/or piercing for higher damage output, beating out the tiered wands, and potentially rivalling the high DPS classes such as Wizard and Warrior.

Wand of RecompenseWand of EvocationWand of Retribution
The tiered wands are solid picks for the Summoner. Despite having relatively low damage compared to many UT wands, these wands still offer a high range of 9 tiles, as well as the ability to pierce enemies.

The Wand of Recompense is a cheaper option than the Wand of Evocation, at the cost of some damage. If you can afford it though, Evocation deals higher damage than Recompense. The Wand of Retribution is currently the highest-tiered wand, boasting high damage capability, but is harder to get as it drops from Oryx the Mad God 3, and is also Soulbound.

Wand of the FallenDusky CatalystSoul's GuidanceTheurgy Wand
These wands sacrifice range for high damage. The range sacrifice isn’t usually big enough to put the Summoner at great risk, but if the situation calls for range, it is not recommended to use these wands.

The Wand of the Fallen fires a single shot traveling about 6 tiles. The Theurgy Wand and Dusky Catalyst are very similar to each other, firing two shots and meeting up at slightly lower range than the listed range. The difference is that the Catalyst has higher DPS, but also inflicts Silenced Silenced when In Combat. On the other hand, Soul’s Guidance doesn’t directly sacrifice the range, but the proc requires players to stand closer to enemies to reach maximum damage with the souls.

Conducting WandCrystal Wand
These wands are very similar to tiered wands, with minor differences. These wands could be used as replacements for the T12 Recompense, although there are better options.

The Conducting Wand sacrifices one tile of range for essentially T13-T14 wand DPS. The Crystal Wand, on the other hand, sacrifices the ability to pierce enemies and some damage for the ability to ignore defense.

Lumiaire
Lumiaire is the clear-cut winner in terms of DPS, having the highest out of all wands. The main drawback is the slow shot speed, rendering it ineffective against faster enemies or bosses. If you are able to deal with the slow shots though, this wand is a great pick for DPS.

Ability

The Summoner’s ability is the Mace. On ability use, it summons minions to assist you in battle, with a maximum of 3 minions active at once. These minions then target and attack enemies close to it. They can also be controlled and moved, with some exceptions.

Sovereign MaceGrandmaster Mace
The tiered maces are solid picks for the Summoner, providing solid stat bonuses and dealing decent damage.

The Sovereign Mace is the highest-tiered mace that is not Soulbound, meaning it can be obtained by trading. The Grandmaster Mace, while stronger, is Soulbound, and drops from Oryx the Mad God 3, making it difficult to obtain.

Mace of the Celestial ForestMace of the Depths
These maces, unlike tiered maces, are stationary, requiring proper placement for effective use.

The Mace of the Celestial Forest is very versatile, and can be used for clearing or single-target DPS. This mace summons, at random, variants of sprite trees with different attributes. The Mace of the Depths, however, is primarily for support, as it inflicts Red Down Arrow Slowed in a wide radius.

Hivemind MaceMechanical Mace
These maces, unlike the previously mentioned ones, orbit around the player, favoring more close-range aggressive play.

The Hivemind Mace and Mechanical Mace are very similar to each other, with the difference being the amount of shots and fire rate. The Hivemind Mace provides +4 DEX to slightly increase damage output, while the Mechanical Mace provides +80 HP to bolster survivability.

Incubation Mace
The Incubation Mace is the clear-cut winner in terms of DPS, beating out every mace. The main drawback is the charge mechanic, which can sometimes screw up your DPS when considering bosses’ invulnerability. However, the charge duration is not long enough to fully wreck the damage output of this mace. This mace is event-exclusive, being only obtainable during Easter events.

Peacekeeper
The Peacekeeper is an interesting alternative to the Incubation. Unlike all maces, this one summons an army, occupying all slots at once. The damage potential of all minions rivals Incubation, although this damage can’t realistically be reached, as only the Knight can be controlled, while the Raider orbits around you and the Archer stands still. Despite this, the damage of the Knight is high enough that it rivals the Grandmaster Mace. However, this mace is difficult to obtain, as it drops from The Forgotten King.

Armor

The Summoner’s armor of choice is the Robe. Robes sacrifice defense for a wide variety of stats, with tiered robes providing MP, WIS, and ATK bonuses.

Robe of the Grand SorcererRobe of the Star MotherRobe of the Ancient Intellect
The tiered robes are solid picks for the Summoner, providing decent stats across the board. While she doesn’t necessarily benefit from MP and WIS bonuses, the ATK bonuses are decent enough.

The Robe of the Grand Sorcerer is easier to obtain than the Robe of the Star Mother, although it is slightly weaker. The Robe of the Ancient Intellect provides strong bonuses, but is harder to obtain as it drops from Oryx the Mad God 3, and is also Soulbound.

Diplomatic RobeVesture of Duality
These robes are the go-to for DPS, mainly providing high increases to damage output.

The Diplomatic Robe provides a healthy balance between survivability and offense with the +50 HP and +10 ATK bonuses. On the other hand, the Vesture of Duality forgoes survivability for high DPS, reducing DEF by 6 but increasing ATK by 15, for a total of +20 ATK provided by this robe. Vesture also provides a high SPD bonus for mobility. The Diplomatic Robe can be considered a safer option for DPS as the Summoner benefits from HP, while the Vesture of Duality can be a more risky alternative if one is comfortable with sacrificing survivability for DPS.

Water Dragon Silk RobeAnointed Robe
These robes are great alternatives for DPS, providing solid increases to damage output.

The Water Dragon Silk Robe provides +6 ATK for damage and +6 SPD for mobility, as well as a proc that heals 100 HP and applies Red Cross Healing for 3 seconds when under 75% HP. The Anointed Robe on the other hand provides +4 ATK and +3 DEX, slightly outperforming Water Silk in DPS.

Soulless RobeMantle of the MonarchyTwilight Shroud
These robes are focused mainly on survivability, which is always welcome considering the fragility of Summoner.

The Soulless Robe provides +60 HP and +15 DEF which bolsters survivability. The Mantle of the Monarchy, however, sacrifices some amount of HP and DEF compared to Soulless in exchange for a massive +20 VIT, slightly increasing HP regeneration and also reducing the In Combat duration by a whole second. The Twilight Shroud is similar to Soulless, providing less DEF but increasing SPD, which helps with mobility.

Rings

There are vast amounts of rings to choose in this game, with each having their own uses. This list will contain the mainly popular ones.

Ring of DecadesRing of Unbound HealthRing of Exalted Health
HP rings are decent in increasing survivability. While HP is a solid choice for the Summoner as robe classes in general are very vulnerable to damage, there are rings that provide better bonuses without compromising the health increases.

Experimental RingRing of the PyramidHoney Circlet
These rings are solid picks mid-late game for balanced play. Various endgame rings will mostly outclass these, but they aren’t bad choices.

Bracer of the GuardianDivine CoronationCollector's MonocleExalted God's HornOmnipotence Ring
These endgame rings provide healthy bonuses to many stats for balanced play. These should be the rings you will try to aim for later on if you’re looking for balance.

The Forgotten CrownChrysalis of EternityMagical LodestoneOverclocking Amulet
These endgame rings provide high DPS. While The Forgotten Crown offers a +110 HP, which is very beneficial to a low HP class like the Summoner, Magical Lodestone can still offer high DPS stats, and the +6 SPD of the Magical Lodestone is nice for increasing the Summoner’s mobility. The Chrysalis of Eternity has better DPS stats than both rings, but is harder to obtain due to exclusively dropping from the hard mode version of The Shatters. Finally, the Overclocking Amulet has the best DPS stats of any ring in the game and drops rarely from large enemies in the Kogbold Steamworks, however it has -8 DEF, which can be crippling for the Summoner’s already low base DEF. These should be the rings you will try to aim for later on if you’re looking to deal high damage.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Versatility regarding gear choices

The Summoner has a wide variety of gear choices to suit various playstyles. With the UTs available to her, she can either deal high damage, clear efficiently, or debuff enemies. She can also be played safely or aggressively depending on the gear that is used.

  • Great competitor in terms of DPS

The Summoner can compete very well in terms of DPS, rivaling the top DPS classes such as the Wizard and Warrior. With Lumiaire and Incubation Mace, she can deal massive amounts of damage.

It is noteworthy that Incubation Mace alone deals more damage than half of the class roster using 4/4 DPS gear, assuming no exaltations. With full exaltations, the Summoner with Lumiaire, Incubation Mace,
Vesture of Duality, and Crown or Horn will outdamage even an EP Wizard with equivalent items, Tablet, and equivalent exaltations, while doing so from 9+ range.

Weaknesses

  • Low survivability

The Summoner, unfortunately, doesn’t bring much in terms of survivability. While gear choices can increase her survivability and make her less squishy, her base HP, DEF and VIT stats are nothing to boast of.

  • Management of summons (especially Incubation Mace)

Her summons, while incredible, require proper management for effective use. This is most important when dealing with Incubation Mace, as invulnerability phases can make or break the rabbits’ DPS.

  • Reliance on ability

The Summoner relies on her ability to provide damage and utility that makes her famous among players. Because of this, the Word Bubble Quiet debuff is dreaded among Summoner players. While the Silenced Silenced debuff is less annoying than Quiet, it still affects the usage of the ability.
