Behavior

Phase 1 (Sleeping Phase)
The Sumo Master remains still and appears to be sleeping. In this state, he is harmless.
Upon taking damage, he will transition to Phase 2.

Phase 2
The Sumo Master appears to awaken, spawning several Lil Sumos which will rotate around him. After a few seconds, he will start slowly wandering around, occasionally firing a few red projectiles at the nearest player.

Once at about half of his health, he will transition to Phase 3.

Phase 3
The Sumo Master taunts Engaging Super-Mode! and starts wandering much faster. Any remaining Lil Sumos will stop rotating around the Sumo Master and will instead attack the player.

On occasion, he will rush at the nearest player while firing a quick burst of yellow projectiles.

This phase lasts until death.

Tips and Strategies

The Sumo Master can be initially found as a harmless, stationary enemy that does not attack you. Once fired upon however, he summons his minions and will initiate battle with whatever adventurer has rudely awoken him.

Initially, the Sumo Master is slow and cumbersome. His attacks do not track your movement making circling a viable option to kill him without taking damage.

Once he is taken down to half his health however, he will suddenly transform into his super mode. In this state, he moves much faster, attacks significantly faster, and will occasionally dash towards players. This transformation can seriously catch a newer player off guard, potentially resulting in heavy damage or even death.

Despite all of this, he still does not track your movement. Circling him is somewhat trickier but remains the most vital method of killing him. Do keep in mind that his golden attacks in super mode will pass through players AND obstacles. There is no way to use meatshields against him.

It is worth noting this monster can drop Tier 4 Armors, a drop not usually found in the lowlands.
