Notes
The Forgotten Crown, or more commonly referred to as Crown, is tied with the Magical Lodestone for the 2nd highest DPS-stat increasing ring - only beaten by the Crown’s upgrade, the Chrysalis of Eternity. Said upgrade is only found in the hardmode Shatters - with more of every stat, but is much more difficult to acquire.

Both the Crown and Lodestone provide a large +12 to offensive stats. The crown also offers a good amount of HP. Therefore, it is an excellent choice for any class, providing a balanced and very strong level of offense and survivability at the same time.

However, classes with Wismod or otherwise use their ability often, like Sorcerers, Necromancers, and Priests may find better general use in a ring that boosts WIS or MP, like a Divine Coronation, Sourcestone, or Omnipotence Ring.

Additionally, players with access to Oryx’s Sanctuary may find the rings dropped there to be situationally stronger than the crown:

  • The Collector’s Monocle is a straight upgrade to the crown on a Rogue, offering +30 HP and an unbeatable +20 to offensive stats by shooting while Invisible. As the cooldown (from cloak and monocle) is much shorter than the duration, it essentially has 100% uptime. Any leather class can make use of the Turncoat Cape to activate it, though less reliably.

  • The Chancellor’s Cranium may be more useful to melee classes, or players who otherwise like to play at shorter range. While it only has 3 DEX (and no ATK), its short ranged special ability can potentially make up that damage lost in a unique way. In addition, it has better defensive stats (+10 HP, +6 DEF).

  • The Exalted God’s Horn is a strong alternative - above 90% HP, you’re trading 6 ATT for 4 DEX, along with 30 HP and 5 DEF. Low DEX classes like Knight, Archer/Huntress, and Priest may find comparable DPS boosts if you can avoid damage. The unconditional extra survivability can also be very helpful.

Nonetheless, the Crown remains as one of the most sought after rings in the game due to its great balance of DPS boosting and survivability, and is a powerful choice for any class to wear.
