The Nest (Rev. 49)

The Nest
Difficulty: 5Difficulty: 5Difficulty: 5Difficulty: 5Difficulty: 5

The Nest is an extremely dangerous dungeon designed by Mrunibro, a RotMG player and closed tester. It is meant to be a much, much harder version of The Hive, and is the fourth “epic” ( Epic dungeons are a lot harder than their low-level simulacrums ) dungeon released, after Deadwater Docks, Woodland Labyrinth, and The Crawling Depths which were released in 2013.

The best way to tackle this particularly hard dungeon, comparable to a Shatters’ boss difficulty, is contained within cooperation with other players to defeat the boss. It is highly recommended not being close to any enemies in the dungeons, as they do a lot of damage. (Note: teleporting is not allowed so no rushing)

The dungeon can drop Potions of Defense and Dexterity from the larger enemies and the boss is a source of Potions of Life, and the first enemy to drop Greater Potions of Dexterity. In addition, it also drops the ST Swarming Huntress Set, a UT Leather Armor, a UT Dagger, and a UT helmet.

The dungeon can drop from the Killer Bee Nest, an event boss.

Key

Nest Key The Nest Key is available in the Nexus for 250 Realm Gold. The NEST Pack was made available shortly after the dungeon’s release, and consists of 10 Nest Keys for 2000 Realm Gold.

There are always 8 rooms between the starting room and dungeon boss room. The treasure room is a guaranteed spawn, and its entrance is past breakable blocks in the northern part of a random dead-end room. The entrance to the treasure room can only be found in one of two rooms:

Possible room 1 (clover-shaped, large column in middle)

Possible room 2 (multiple honeycomb)

Killer Honey is found in most rooms. It deals 50-70 armor piercing damage to players in it and slows them down more the longer they stand in the honey.

Tips and Strategies

  • Knights seem to be the least needed class here unless they have an Ogmur. The enemies can be stunned but approaching them can deter players as it’s risky.
  • Understanding confuse controls is necessary but dodging is even more necessary.
  • Be aware of the group size: A big group of players can cause lag so it would be wise to adjust your settings. A small group of players means you’re likely to be targeted by enemies so be extra alert.
