Weird RotMG Announcement

#81

someone answer my question D: (that ToS piece was too confusing for me, didn’t understand a thing…)

#82

Quoted from his last reply to my comments

#83

Did you even read my post?

#84

Lmao you right,

TL;DR
DECA has the right to inflict punishment upon a player for using any language that encourages/promotes, hatred, bigotry, racism, drug use, pornography, etc. etc. Chat filters are for language. This Term of Service is for RoTMG not being used as a platform to discuss edgy subjects.

(Nothing morally wrong with this. They are more than well within their right.)
^For anyone who disagrees with above statement

#85

ok so that means that the normal swearwords like the fck and poop(the one that starts with an s) are ok right?

#86

Yeh

#87

No. The ToS also states that they can bring the banhammer on anyone they like. They don’t need to specify a reason. If you appeal, they might consider unbanning.

#88

Yeh that too

#89

So no words are “ok”.

This thread is pointless. All you have to know is treat ROTMG like a library. Just get in there, play the stupid game, and get out. You can socialize later(on Discord or something).

#90

Say this:

Happened on an NPE like me. Would I be able to swear instead of saying NO NO NO NO repeatedly?

#91

So Deca are now PC Police?

#92

I’d advise everyone read the “Acceptable Use Policy” part of the ToS:

http://legal.decagames.io/tos/

[details=Acceptable Use Policy]
The following terms constitute our “Acceptable Use Policy”:
Protection of our reputation and third party rights: You agree not to use the Deca Service to collect, upload, transmit, display, or distribute any User Content: (i) that violates any third-party right, including any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, moral right, privacy right, right of publicity, or any other intellectual property or proprietary right; (ii) that is unlawful, harassing, abusive, tortuous, threatening, harmful, invasive of another’s privacy, vulgar, defamatory, false, intentionally misleading, trade libellous, pornographic, obscene, patently offensive, promotes racism, bigotry, hatred, or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual or is otherwise objectionable; (iii) that is harmful to minors in any way; or (iv) that is in violation of any law, regulation, or obligations or restrictions imposed by any third party.
Protection of our systems: In addition, you agree not to: (i) upload to, transmit, distribute, or otherwise make available through the Deca Service any computer viruses, worms, Trojan horse, time bomb, spyware, robots, bots, spiders or other computer code, file or program that is or is potentially harmful or invasive or intended to damage or hijack the operation of, or to monitor the use of, any computer system, hardware, software, equipment or data; (ii) send through the Deca Service unsolicited or unauthorised advertising, promotional materials, junk mail, spam, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or any other form of duplicative or unsolicited messages, whether commercial or otherwise; (iii) use the Deca Service to harvest, collect, gather or assemble information or data regarding other users, including email addresses, passwords or geo locations, without their consent or otherwise systematically download and store Site content; (iv) use any features of the Deca Service for anything other than their intended purpose, including exploiting any glitches for personal gain; (v) interfere with, disable, disrupt, or create an undue burden on servers or networks connected to the Deca Service, or violate the regulations, policies or procedures of such networks;(vi) attempt to gain unauthorized access or provide automated access to or use of the Deca Service (or to other computer systems or networks connected to or used together with the Deca Service), whether through password mining, unauthorised scripts, scrapers or offline readers or any other means; (vii) attempt to impersonate another person or entity, including (without limitation) any representative of Deca; (viii) stalk, harass, interfere with, restrict or inhibit any other user’s use and enjoyment of the Deca Service, including by bullying, grieving, shouting, flooding or using excessively large images so that the screen goes by too fast to read; (ix) use software or automated agents or scripts to produce multiple accounts on the Deca Service, or to generate automated searches, requests, or queries to the Deca Service, or to strip, scrape, or mine data from the Deca Service; or (x) interfere with or disable any security-related features of the Deca Service; (xi) make improper use of our support services, including by submitting false abuse reports; or (xii) assist, permit or encourage any person to perform any of the activities described above.
How might we enforce these Terms of Use if you violate them?: We reserve the right (but have no obligation) to review any User Content, and to investigate and/or take appropriate action against you if you violate the Acceptable Use Policy or any other provision of these Terms or otherwise create liability for us or any other person. The action we take will be determined by us acting in our sole discretion. Examples of action that we might take could include: removing or modifying your User Content, terminating these Terms and your Account and/or reporting you to law enforcement authorities or relevant rights holder.[/details]

#93

I’m not part of Deca, but I’m pretty sure they’re going to tolerate a certain amount of profanity, as long as they’re not insults directed at somebody or spammed everywhere.

It’s easier for people to follow rules when they understand the logic behind them, instead of considering them completely arbitrary.

Who said they give a shit about your thoughts? They just don’t want you using language that might turn their customers away on their platform.

You’re also a colossal moron if you think a video game such as this one is the right place to have debates about politics, race, gender, and other serious topics.

#94

Ah, I see. The last thing DECA would want is for people to not follow these rules.

However, concerning the logic behind the recent regulations, DECA has not released a statement from any of the team about the rules.

#95

Nice misquote.

I just used the first image that came up when I searched ‘Political Correct Police’.

Here’s a different example I hope doesn’t trigger you like the last.

#96

At least they’re trying to do more about hackers.

#97

yes but with that logic, just playing the game is against the ToS ;ll or just saying “hi”…

#98

Who said it wasn’t? I suppose DECA would never ban someone for saying “hi”, but who knows how far they will take this? I sure don’t.

#99

well yea, but back to the point, i srsly dont think anyone should be banned for profanity, only for racism and stuff like that.

#100

I wholeheartedly agree with you. No one should be banned for profanity simply because there is a filter for bad words.
