Bows and Alt/Sub-weapon Comparisons

#1

So, I really hate the new longbow sprites. I feel like they are limited in design and look too similar to their predecessor weapon. A much better option would be something like crossbows, they would be distinct like the other alt weapons.
I wanted to make a chart comparing the sprites to show crossbows would be a far better design choice.

Bows Longbows Crossbows
\ 40x40 \ 40x40 \ 40x40
\ 40x40 \ 40x40 \ 40x40
\ 40x40 \ 40x40 \ 40x40
\ 40x40 \ 40x40 \ 40x40
\ 40x40 \ 40x40 \ 40x40
\ 40x40 \ 40x40 \ 40x40
\ 40x40 \ 40x40 \ 40x40
\ 40x40 \ 40x40 \ 40x40
\ 40x40 \ 40x40 \ 40x40
\ 40x40 \ 40x40 \ 40x40

I added T0 because I think it would be cool if some classes began with an alt weapon. I was thinking something like:
Huntress - Crossbow
Rogue - Dual blades
Paladin - Flail
Ninja - Tachi
Mystic - Spellblade
Priest - Morning Star

I also redesigned Thousand Shot to be more distinct.

TShot looks like it was dragged through the ground, at least normal one looks like the advanced machinery that it’s described as. Also, while a T0 alt weapon would be cool, it would probably confuse new players with mechanics they’re not used to yet.

I guess it’s up to personal interpretation because I always felt it being the opposite. Don’t get me wrong I love the color scheme (doombow prob my favorite item sprite) but always felt It didn’t look mechanical at all. Making it more angular and dark like a gun makes sense to me more.

Also aren’t new players already confused about almost everything? Wouldn’t exposing them more early on about new mechanics help them learn/understand faster? (These are rhetorical questions)

I do like the idea of certain classes having the alt wep as there base. Since weps have a “usable by:” list I dont think it would add much confusion.
