I want to second what four said, if that char dies: Boom! You have nothing. But if you max another char then it is easier to rebuild.

Always better to max another char. Branch out your account. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

As everybody said, it’s better to have multiple semi-maxed characters than one strong character. Death is sometimes so random and unavoidable, you gotta have a backup plan.
