They could have just added invisible enemies that do nothing in the godlands to prevent this though.

There was an accidental change in a previous recent build that allowed enemies to approach paused players. It got hotfixed back to normal.
But wondering if that could be part of a solution - and if you get enemies on your head while paused, tough luck, either nexus or chance it with unpause into a bulletstorm.

I haven’t really paid them much attention, the couple of times they’ve shown up on a server I’m playing on, I find some liches to kill, as going to Oryx seems to do the job quite well to purge them.
