Revival of Speedrunning

##Introduction

Hi, I’m Craig, and uh, Oryx has just assigned me to record the meanest, baddest, fastest adventurers of the Realm so he can deal with them personally reward them with candy.

So yeah, the timer usually starts from the first frame of movement to the moment you exit the portal.

Um, so this is a wiki post so just change these as you see fit. It’ll help me a lot thanks.

Notes:

  • I’m not sure if I should include entries that don’t follow the “time starts from first movement to exit portal” rule, up to you guys.

  • Should we include separate tables for ‘classes’ and ‘petless’?

  • Sewers runs?

oh nice, i never record, but i can beat the 34sec easily (if i get lucky)

I’d love to see some new records, just like in Rio this year :slight_smile:

Though when I record, I get <30 FPS because I use a '09 MacBook Toaster rip.

hmm, well i dont even bother doing these challenges b/c its very hard to go the right route, like much more rare than getting a dblade, and not worth the risk using candy pop on warriors.

Also my comp can hold like 2h of record space.

… never understood the whole speedrunning abyss thing. RNG will decide the size of the Abyss, and not much else matters.

Incorrect. Number of rooms between start and finish is always the same in every dungeon. Count it out some time.

Plus, if I learned anything watching Games Done Quick for I don’t how many years now, it’s that every speedrun involves RNG. Some more than others, but still. And I’m not implying that’s a good thing.

Then speed run some other dungeon. Yeah, it takes luck to get the right path. But it’s still fun to do, so I’m keeping the abyss there.

Speed running isn’t for everyone because of that RNG factor but some people, including me, find them very interesting. Because legends is broken, Arena leaderboards are the only kinda ‘skill competitive’ aspect of this game. Speed runs are another way of ‘swanking ones dick size’ to put it.

On top of separating petless runs from runs with pet, Doc mentioned separating the. Into classes though I haven’t played around with how to do that without making it look messy.

Sorry, should have said “path that you will take” instead of size.

When you’re trying to go as fast as possible, you hang around near the edge and cut corners as much as possible.

If you’re lucky, you’ll have less lava and these guys on top of that path.

And since the whole competition is basically revolved around dodging the least to go the fastest, some abysses are “smaller”, or “shorter”, or what ever adjective you prefer.

(also, if lucky enough, rooms will sometimes mash together and create shorter paths than originally intended)

And that’s what makes it fun, at least for me.

It’s kinda like racing; you

(at least figuratively, I don’t watch F1/NASCAR etc.)

When you’re going that fast, you’re bound to get a rush out of it.

Even with your divine pet, it doesn’t change the fact that eating two consecutive shotguns from the big guys will put you to half when wearing a ring pop.

Well, if one is lucky enough, they could have no “big guys” in their direct path. Hence my argument.

Well will you try Shatters speed runs at least? Somebody’s gotta’ overthrow BTEL :wink:

I get no thrill out of speedrunning the shatters…

Not saying that’s the reason why I’m not going to try, my times did suck, but it’s not fun for me.

Speed-running Tombs with a 100/100/100 pet using Trickster, that’s an interesting challenge. (Trickster is quite hard to master, and so is not messing up a Tomb with a medium ranged class with 100 electric)
