Addition to the Loot System: Souls

#1

The Soul System

A new addition to the current RNG-based loot system, works in the following way:

1. There’s a new tab on your Fame Menu labelled Souls, showing your current amount of Souls you’ve gathered on your character.

2. These Souls are obtainable from Dungeon or Event Bosses who have atleast an Untiered Item as a drop.

3. The Souls aren’t transferred through your characters, for example, your Wizard has 10x Souls of X boss, but if you make another character, they will have 0x Souls of that X boss.

4. The Souls work in corelation with the specific Untiered Item Drop Rate (%), for example, let’s say a Doom Bow has a 1/100 Drop Rate (0.1%), if you gather 100 Souls of Septavius the Ghost God, the next drop will be a guaranteed Doom Bow.

5. The Souls are only given to players who have managed to hit the Soulbound Threshold on the boss, if you manage to do so, you will given the following text in the chat that only you can see:

“You have collected 1x Soul of Septavius the Ghost God!” (for example if it’s the Undead Lair Boss)

and that Soul is added to your character’s Soul Collection.

6. Once you get your desired Untiered Item through a full stack of Souls, that specific Soul count will go back to 0.

7. In the case you manage to get the Untiered Drop before the full stack by luck, your current Souls amount will be halved.

8. The Untiered Item Drop Rate will always be the same regardless of your Souls amount.

9. In the case a boss can drop multiple Untiered Items, you will only be guaranteed one random Soul for an item, 50% chance to get another item Soul, 25% for another Soul and 10% for the rest of the Souls, for example, The Marble Colossus, if you get the Sword Soul, this will be the text in chat:

“You have collected 1x Soul of The Marble Colossus, there’s a visible sword inside the Soul…”

If you get lucky for the 50% second Soul, this time for the armor, the next text will appear

Your Soul has fragmented itself! The second Soul has a visible heavy armor inside of it…

If you get even luckier for the 25% third Soul, this time around for the seal, the next text will appear:

Your Souls have created a third one from nowhere! The third Soul has a visible seal inside of it…

If you get extremely lucky for the 10% fourth Soul, this last time for the ring, the next text will appear:

The gods have blessed you and gifted you another Soul! The fourth Soul has a visible ring inside of it…

The bolded text changes between type of weapon (in this case a sword), type of armor (in this case heavy armor), type of ability (in this case a seal) and ring depending of what Soul you get.

These variations of text only appear if the boss has multiple Untiered Items.

10. You can only get one Soul per type from a single boss.

11. Your Soul Collection for a specific character will be lost at death.

12. You’ll be shown the amount of Souls you need for an Untiered Item, for a way to not make the list too long, the Soul Collection list will show two drop down lists of Events and Dungeons, Events will show all the Event Bosses, however, the Dungeons will show drop down lists of all the dungeons in the game with atleast an Untiered Item drop, these lists will be toggleable and show you the boss (or multiple, if any), the amount of Souls you’ve gathered for that boss, and the Untiered Item for preview.

An honest, thoughtful discussion regarding UTs

Congrats, you just made a complicated version of a pity timer.

#3

Love the idea. Gives people who never get the white they want a shot at getting it.
ifyoucankeepyourcharacteralivelongenough

#4

We actually need a pity timer, I’ve seen many people quit due to the inability to get any white bags.

#5

It’ll be nice if we have statistics instead of testimonial evidence, but I’d say that a Pity Rate would be nice, not necessary.

#6

But we don’t have statistics, so here testimonial evidence is the best we’ve got

#7

grind forbidden jungle souls

#8

guaranteed necro set, can’t complain can you

#9

Um no this is broken as hell. Having an untiered item isn’t a right, it’s a privelage. White bags should never be a guarantee in the game.

#10

Not when that fucking item is a dbow/leaf bow

#11

I have to disagree with you on the part this new system is broken.

Currently you may go months, even years to try get an Untiered Item that isn’t even guaranteed, this is very notable on Event Whites.

This new system will work more on the players’ skills, remember that nobody in this game is immortal, everyone has to die at some point, it requires a player’s patience and skill to run, let’s say, 200 Shatters to get The Forgotten Crown in one character without dying between that period of time, that requires skill, and it should be rewarded.

Don’t forget that this new system won’t get rid of the RNG-based one, you can still get the Untiered Item through RNG, that’s why your Souls amount of that item will be halved, to not make the items way too common while keeping it fair.

#12

So does it matter if you don’t have one? No it doesn’t. Thinking that you deserve a white bag is just flawed thinking.

Yes yes and then just give everyone free whites. If you’re going to guarantee someone a whitebag in rotmg then people are going to start quitting.

#13

And you think people isn’t quitting now?

The game is heavily grind-based, imagine the frustation of farming for an item you may never get, that leads to one of the main reasons of quitting this game.

Your logic is flawed, if someone has the enough patience to farm for an item, they deserve to obtain it, white bags aren’t irrelevant, they can totally change the way a class can be played, and that adds to the fun factor in the game, and won’t lead to massive amounts of quitting.

Remember, the white bags are only guaranteed to players with enough skill to achieve a max stack of Souls, and there’s no problem with that.

Seriously, people quitting for a good system for guaranteed Untiered Items is insane.

#14

It would be a little strange walking into your final dungeon knowing that a mere completion will get you a guaranteed whitebag item. For a less blatently naked grind the souls could merely increase your loot chance so you’d still not know when exactly the loot would be gained. But I don’t mind grind to a target, that’s how some of the events have been (eg. valentines tokens), and they felt fine to have a known number ahead of time.

#15

How? it would still be grindy as hell to try and get one of them.

a priveledge earned by doing the same thing for multiple years until you finally get 200 dice to roll 6’s. That’s really fair isn’t it.

White bags shouldn’t take literal years to get.

many of them are objectively better than the tiered equivalent, so yes it does matter.

If I run 100 voids I think I deserve a white bag.

^^ you won’t know when you’ll get your drop, if you do enough of the dungeon to get a guaranteed drop from this you definitely deserve it.

Basing one of this game’s main premises strictly behind RNG is dumb, nobody should have to farm for something for 5 fucking years just to get one item in a game where if you die you lose that item permanently.

#16

You might start quitting. But that sure doesn’t mean others will. The difficulty of staying alive on one character for long enough (especially when Unity comes out… meaning hackers will have a hard time again) should be rewarded. If whites don’t matter, then the game basically ends for everyone once they get a tops set.

The whole POINT is to get whites. And people who put in the time and effort and the skill should get one; it keeps them playing. Sure, some salty people might quit but more people will come back.

#17

No.
Should go down to 0.
Otherwise I’m ok with the idea IF AND ONLY IF the amount souls needed is very high and Nevov’s idea is taken into account.

#18

ive run so many jungles on wizzy or necro ppes, trying to get staff for wizzy and staff and or skull for necro, but only got damn pollen powder

#19

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Jugg drop rate 1/800
Gets jugg naturally with 799 souls
