Can someone explain how decoys interact with AoE bombs (or a lack thereof)?

Decoys and tricksters ability in general seems like it has always been… buggy. The best showcase of this is how whether or not a decoy will work for where bombs are cast seems to depend on the time of day, what you last ate for breakfast, and whether or not you’re in the vicinity of a ppebtwlelxd. It just doesn’t make any damn sense. Can anyone make sense of it, particularly someone who’d be knowledgeable on the code, or does this even elude DECA?

From a March patch: Patch X.23.0 - Assassin and Trickster Balance

I’m not sure if the fix worked (see: Davy’s key bug has been “fixed” so many times but still occurs) but from my experience it does work. The main issue I noticed it in was when MBC bombs weren’t targeting decoys–hence the need for human decoys–but that was fixed so I’m not sure where else you’re noticing this issue?
