What’s the justification for it being a bad thing?

It positively affects some people and doesn’t negatively affect anyone.

#22

Abortion is a bad thing, but that’s another can of worms.

I’m saying justifying something because it doesn’t affect you negatively is poor logic. It’s very egocentric and allows for injustice.

The war on drugs didn’t affect me negatively, but it ruined thousands of lives. See my point?

#23

Sorry, I clarified what I meant by doesnt affect *people negatively above.

Edit: and before we open this can of worms, can we agree not to use religion in this argument?

#24

So you’re never planning on paying taxes ever? Bold of you to publicly declare war against the IRS. I’m sure that’s going to go swimmingly for you.

So you’re never planning on having children either?

Might want to start giving your future a modicum of consideration. As unreal as it might sounds, you’re the one who’ll have to live it.

#25
  1. surprised you’re willing to open the can of worms
  2. absolutely, not gonna argue from a point of authority you don’t acknowledge.

#26

I consider myself a “democratic socialist.”

  1. Secure borders are important but the wall is a medieval vanity project that won’t do a thing except appease Trump’s cult and prove his “manhood”.
  2. Unless something major happens I refuse to vote for any Republican regardless of how “moderate” they may claim to be.
  3. Re: Trump - no comment needed.
  4. Re: legalized weed - why not? Good source of tax revenue and the science doesn’t support what conservatives are saying.
  5. Completely the woman’s decision. In a perfect world, abortion will be safe, legal, and rare.
  6. Climate change is an existential crisis that needs immediate attention but is held back by big money in politics and lobbying from the oil industry. I support a “Green New Deal.”
  7. Gay conversion therapy is torture and should be completely banned.

#27

I’m quite sure he never implied nor said that

#28

The funniest outcome would be if the wall ended up being built by private corporations and it turned out in the end that it was just a way for Trump to give a juicy contract to some of his friends (or even to himself).

Wouldn’t be the first time a politician used a big construction project as a way to embezzle money.

#29

Of course that’s how it’s going to end up. The government loves to do shit like this all the time.

#31

Their fault, not his.

#32

A little foresight is necessary here. Not exactly the best idea to make a thread bound to turn into a flamewar…

I’ll have to disagree with these two points. For the abortion point, I’ve come to a rather peculiar realization that it should involve the decision of both partners (unless you’re a single mom obviously). So I think that having only the woman decide wouldn’t be fair to the other partner.

As for climate change, I do agree that it’s a bad thing, but the “Green New Deal” is simply not a realistic solution. Cortez wants to enact all this change within a decade time span, which is neigh impossible even with our technological advancement.

Plus there are things like this:

“Guaranteeing a job with a family-sustaining wage, adequate family and medical leave, paid vacations, and retirement security to all people of the United States.”

which would be economically unfeasible (especially in such a short timespan), and where would this money come from?

Here’s the article I got the quote from the Washington Post

Also just a fox news article for that CENTRISM Fox News

(I was also gonna link the daily stormer, but that shit is poopoo and I don’t want to find the article lol)

#35

Nah it’ll be fine, I thought this through very well. Even if it does, at least it started a conversation between people with differing ideologies y’know?

#36

Abortion is the murder of a human being because biologically a human is created at the moment of conception. The only acceptable time for abortion is when the pregnancy actually threatens the life of the mother.

#37

Gonna have to disagree with the murder part, mainly because I don’t think it is, depending on how many months pregnant you are. Abortion within 0-3 months is fine by me, since the egg hasn’t developed enough to become a fetus. However, late term abortion (AFTER 3-4 months) is something I don’t support unless it is because the life of the mother is threatened.

heres two links on the topic, just be noted that they are obviously biased (Shame really)

  1. it isn’t an egg once the sperm breaks the wall.
  2. Any organism in it’s growth stage is still that organism, biologically. If you plant some flowers, even if they haven’t bloomed, they are still belong to the same biological categorisation as the bloomed and fully matured flowers. A month old fetus is still biologically a human, it has the exact same DNA as a fully grown human, but in an early stage of development. Ergo, murder.

#39

Is that another one of those sites that’s just:

“Nothing is ever my fault and everything that ever goes wrong in my life is the fault of the big bad Black Jewish conspiracy.”

all the time, regardless of subject?

So if a woman gets pregnant after a rape or cannot provide for the child, it’s okay to force her to deal with it?

You do realize that if you make it too easy for guys to ruin a girl’s life, that’s going to make the girls real wary of fooling around with boys?

#40
  1. Just because someone was concieved out of rape doesn’t mean they don’t have a right to life. It is an extremely unfortunate reality that rape is very present and impregnation from rape is something that happens. It does not justify ending the child’s life.
  2. There are services that help women to provide for children they couldn’t otherwise support. I, in fact, volunteered for one of these for about two years of my life. Orphans, for example. If a child had to be given away by the mother because they couldn’t be supported, they still have a will to live. If that orphan truly didn’t want to live, they would’ve ended their own life. Why is it anybody’s right to take away that clear will to live?

Are you really trying to justify abortion with “hey girls might not like the consequences of hypergamy, so they might not have sex as much” Unplanned pregnancy should be shared equally by both parties.

Sorta? they do talk about politics with… less than Safe For Work language.
