Thoughts Regarding Knight: "Buff" Needed

#1

So knight is obviously pretty OP against any enemy that can be stunned for obvious reasons. The enemies quite literally cant do anything. The issue with this is, however, is that because of this game-breaking ability and the introduction of perma-stunning pets, the knight in pretty much any endgame dungeon, as well as a variety of other events and dungeons has been rendered entirely useless for boss fights. The only importance he can bring is stunning the few enemies allowed in LH, stunning the few enemies allowed in Shatts, etc. So my idea is rather than overhauling some shit, why not just add an additional effect to Knight’s shield that can take place against 90% of the enemies that are intended to take every status effect except stun.

The status effect I think should be in place is a form of weaken, which reduces the enemy damage done by 25%. The number is low because A. the stun immunity is there for obvious reasons, we don’t want bosses getting completely steamrolled, but its still there because it can add some significant meaning to a knight without having to grind relentlessly for an ogmur that rarely ever drops. Any boss that does 200 damage only deals 150, 100 damage drops down to 75, etc. and the status effect should only last as long as the stun. Why? Because if the enemy is stun immune, then the weaken effect still goes through, if not, the weaken effect has practically no use because the enemy is just stunned anyway. Could actually bring viable meaning back to rolling with knights in endgame content.

bruh

big boy pet knight players cant die and eat shots

if theres a stun immune enemy knights arent useful, thats that
its already too good, making it good in all areas of the game then that would be wayyy to op

I think Knight is in good place where he is now. Even tho. its main “thing” is to stun, it does good damage too. Shield is very similiar to Spell but at closer range and not so destructive. It does good damage and has Stun ability. Also the buff would make it just even more OP against anything, the stun immunity is to balance some things, can you imagine Knight stunning LH Boss? Knight is good right now, its heavily damaging tank that can stun, it has sword for obvious reasons.

what’s an ogmur

not to mention, knight is fine where it’s at.

Knight is “fine” where he’s at but we’re talking about his validity in later dungeons. He’s tanky, yeah, but whats tanky supposed to contribute to? His tankiness was originally designed for him to be the “opener” and clear the way for the rest of the players to follow suit, get their damage in, then retreat once the knight stun wears off. Instead, he’s just a damage sponge that “does as much dps as a wizard”, but I dont think i need to remind you guys that getting close enough to consistently shield spam for raw DPS as well as a wizard is almost laughable. In basically every situation his DPS would be far outshined by wizard, only time he can do massive damage is on enemies that can be stunned or is easily dodged close range for a shotgun hit. So that throws his “strunk dps” reasoning out the window. What we’re left with is a damage sponge that can’t “block” shots from hitting other players, he can stun minimal enemies, and he does mediocre dps, only outshining Paladin but even then, Paladin has a usage for his buff. Knight is literally just there as an honorary position outside of stunning enemies, same could be said for necro, assassin, etc. It’s not just knight, but considering how knight is among the most played classes, it should probably be the first addressed. Every class should have a usage in every dungeon. While that usage doesn’t necessarily need to be hugely significant, it should be good enough to justify most runs taking said classes. Look at any pre-made LH run and you will literally only see 1-2 knights being taken just because of how useless he is in every other situation.

Also I kinda have to remind you, this “buff” literally would only make him an actual merit to have in the fights where the boss is stun immune, but not weak immune. Anything else that can get stunned is just gonna get stunned, the weak will have no effect.

An additional thing to note is how this can effect low-end players. I personally have 7 character slots, so making another character besides knight can work perfectly fine. But for other players that are entirely F2P, don’t have enough time in their day to be able to log in every day to hit the login calendar to get the free slots, etc. They are pretty much left with choosing one of the classes that are guaranteed to get them into LH runs, like warrior or wizard.

However, like the rest of their brethren they are vulnerable to Stun. Knights can help disable the Shades’ extremely punishing attacks so that the group can focus more on killing it or dodging the boss’s shots.

This is directly from the wiki page for Greater Void Shade. The pillars in marble colossus fight can also be stunned, which can be extremely helpful when it is something like a weakening or daze pillar. Knights are not just tanky with good dps, they help the group at every stage of a LH run, though they do need a ogmur to help with agonized titan, but really they don’t need a buff. They aren’t wanted in lost halls over wizards because they have similar dps, they are wanted over wizards because they are more useful to the group. They need exactly zero buffs to remain one of the most popular, useful, and safest classes in the game.
