The Bard

Weapon: Wand
Ability: Music Instrument
Armor: Robe
Unlock: Lvl 20 with Priest, Lvl 20 with Trickster

The Bard wields a wand as a weapon and uses her enchanted music instrument to inspire her allies, or deal damage and debuff enemies. Having less healing and less damage of the Priest and Sorcerer class, the Bard should function as a versatile class with a bit of both worlds.

The Ability: The Instrument

The instrument has two features, like the Ninja class’ star. While space is held, The Bard grants nearby allies the ‘Healing’ status, +1 ATK and +1 DEF. (improved with tiers).

When simply tapped, or once released, the Bard unleashes a cone of 3 shots that deal moderate damage and inflict the “Dissonance” debuff. Dissonance causes enemies to deal 30% less damage for a brief period of time. Whenever an enemy affected by Dissonance fires a projectile, the projectile has a purple overlay on it, to portray that the shot is weakened.

It’s a really neat class idea, man, I love the originality and the sprites seem great. Famtastic work on this, seems like a pretty interesting class.
I like the two functions if the ability.
I’d suggest that Dissonance could also do something else as it is currently quite similar to Weak.
Possibly since the class wields an instrument Dissonance - as well as lowering enemy output damage - could stop enemies from chasing you and make them sort of “shimmy” back and forth (much like all chasing enemies do when they are not in range with players. It’s just a suggestion though, I don’t know how viable or balanced that would be in the actual game.

My own personal touch would be for it to use a dagger. Wand is ok, but I don’t know any bard from the story books or anything that have ever used a wand in combat.

I know, I have played bard in DnD too. I thought it would fit for a wand using class and there are already 3 dagger users. Otherwise I would have done that. :grin:

i think its alright to call the “dissonance” status effect weak.
there’s a different “daze” status effect for bosses and players

I don’t think that we can inflict weak on bosses rn, so I think that adding weak for bosses that reduces their dmg output by 50% is a-ok

I think a speed buff would end up just be used for trolling, as people dont expect their speed to change suddenly while dodging bullets.

I think it’s great to have another class that can hold down the spacebar and have another effect as the ninja does. Also I really like the dissonance, but I think the range of the buff is really small, expecially unmaxed. Maybe give it a minimum range of 2 tiles and go up to 4 or 5 tiles at 75 wis.

I know, but the formulas shown on the realmeye wiki also multiplies by 3, then divides by 100, so for sake of consistency I didn’t set it as dividing your wis by 25. :stuck_out_tongue: But you’re right.

Would be cool if, for example, there was a UT that just did lots of raw damage. Or, maybe one that doesn’t shoot shots at all but just buffs/debuffs players and enemies respectively. Just a thought.

Debuffing players would probably not be a good idea. Don’t give the mystic trolls any ideas.

Really cool, and in a way, a pretty unique playstyle. Kinda like a padeen, but encourages more clumping up actively for the healing part. Dissonance is VERY powerful. The UTs are unique, especially like the random range of the Electric Contrabass

Sorta bothered by the differences between the tiered abilities, but other than that, really great idea. I love the sprites for the character and skins, and I can see that you put effort into this. Keep up the good work! :+1:
