The Abyss of Demons, also known as Hell, is where all demons are spawned. Normally a plane of reality that was used to scare small children into believing in the Divines, Oryx unleashed it upon the living world and has wreaked havoc in doing so. The Abyss of Demons is opened sometimes by defeating a Medusa. It is a source of vitality potions, defense potions, Demon Blades , Demon Frog Pets, and frustration. As of Build 123.3, there are now secret treasure rooms. These rooms contain a Mini-boss, A golden statue. The statue causes the floor at which the player entered to be turned to toasty lava. Also be aware that the room of the mini-boss contains a trap in the fact that The floor changes to Lava in some spots. It is one of the hardest dungeons, and arguably hardest areas, in the game. It is populated by very fast, very strong demons, and contains damaging lava floor tiles. Lava will quickly drain your health, and can kill a level 20 within seconds. Beware of lag or control-sticking in here, as it can send you spiraling into the lava.

Tips and Strategies

Survival tips:

Don't rush: You step in lava and get Ambushed. Demons of the abyss are DANGEROUS: Treat them with more caution than you treat gods. Lava only hurts your feet: Simply rotate your point of view so that your feet stay on the lava bridges and you will avoid lava damage. WHY ENTER THE ABYSS? Despite the chance of obtaining a Vitality and Defense potions (if soloing, both potions are guaranteed drops), the difficulty of this dungeon deters many players who prefer Sprite Worlds and the like. However, the reward is worth the time spent, because after a few rounds of practice, players will be able to complete the Abyss quickly and safely, making it a viable and worthwhile way to amass wealth in RotMG. Even if you do not fancy repeatedly running Abysses to farm Vitality and Defense potions, it is extremely beneficial to complete Abysses (especially solo) simply because of how effectively and efficiently it improves your dodging and navigation skills. Your third run will already be a marked improvement from your first. The Abyss teaches you how to navigate tight spaces, which will help you in all other areas of RotMG. GUIDE/TIPS AND TRICKS You should be playing with your screen off-center, and be familiar with screen rotation. You do not need to be 8/8, but high stats will significantly speed up your dungeon runs. Use your own discretion. High speed (around 50 SPD is enough, higher is better) is especially important. You do not need to use a melee character; any class is fine. The class used does not matter so much as your skill level. Melee classes or priest are safer at first, but eventually, regardless of class, you should barely be getting hit at all. Melee classes do not complete Abysses significantly faster than other classes. They might complete Abysses slightly faster than other classes, but only because of their generally higher DPS. Be prepared to go back the way you came. While you are still sometimes able to circle the room evading bullets, simply running back the way you came will be your main method of dodging bullets, and your most effective, especially if the entire room is filled with lava. This often involves quickly running across lava bridges, but this eventually becomes a straightforward task. Positioning your camera facing one of the cardinal directions (0 degrees, 90 degrees, 180 degrees, 270 degrees) makes it a lot easier to avoid falling into lava. Also, proficiency comes with practice. Once you master the above, you will be able to rush Abysses safely. Run into a room, fire, run out before bullets or enemies reach you. It is the fastest way to complete Abysses (other than using a Rogue to cloak through everything). You will not take damage unless you make a mistake, and it is a lot easier than many people make it out to be.

The Treasure Room
Abyss Idol

It turns a lot of the floor around it into lava when activated. The monster shoots paralyze bullets, so if you're hit while in the lava, you're toast (Hahaha get it? Toast?). Its drops are identical to Archdemon Malphas' drops. Sometimes there are 2 (or more) Treasure Rooms in the Abyss of Demons and there is an easy way to know it. When you kill the Idol, the path should come back to normal (lava disappear), if it doesn't, there is probably another Treasure Room somewhere in the Abyss of Demon. You must swim in lava to exit the room (or teleport if you can). IF YOU DO NOT THINK YOU CAN KILL THE TREASURE IDOL BY YOURSELF: 1. Do Malphas first so if you nexus, the time spent in the Abyss was not wasted completely 2. Follow the step listed below. Trying won't hurt. And for the treasure room and the Abyss in general: DO NOT BE AFRAID TO NEXUS, because the abyss is dropped VERY frequently. How to kill Step One: Clear the room of the smaller demons before shooting the Idol. If you do accidently shoot it, be ready for a difficult fight. Step Two: Once the room is clear, begin using your weapon on the idol. If you are using a Wizard, Knight or any ability that deals massive damage, use it. For knights, use an Ogmur and a Colossus Shield on it quickly. BEWARE!: Do not let the big shot hit you with paralysis. IF you do and he throws lava in your zone, just nexus Step 3: Various spots of the room should be getting filled with lava and going back to normal. Just move to safe spots without getting caught in the lava. Keep attacking when you get the chance until it dies and the lava disappears. Get the Vit and hopefully a T10 Weapon/T5 Ability Tip: Sometimes, if you stand very close to the idol and find the right spot (it will be one of the cardinal directions), you can stand next to the idol and only get hit by its small shotgun. It will not throw lava at you, and can be killed laughably easily.
