Lengthy Explanation: (Assume you have 100 HP) When you are hit by 1 bullet that does 100 damage, you will die. Alternatively, you will reach 0 Hp if you're hit by more than 1 bullet (At the exact same time) whos total damage = 100. It's sort of the same reason monsters can survive a spellbomb with 0 HP left.
