The **Hermit God** is an [event boss](/wiki/quest-monsters#event) that spawns once per realm. It has a guaranteed chance to drop a portal to the [Ocean Trench](/wiki/ocean-trench) and a very low chance to drop the [Helm of the Juggernaut](/wiki/helm-of-the-juggernaut). Do note that damage to the tentacles **do not** count towards soulbound damage for Hermit God. As of Release X20.0, is reskinned as the [Hat God](/wiki/hat-god) during winter. {{template-realm-eye-lore | response=The Hermit God was a joint creation by Thessal and Oryx. Though the two would not typically consider each other allies, the agreement benefited both.
For Thessal, it protected her ocean from the sailors and fishermen who threatened her kind. For Oryx, it defended his mass shipments of liquor from pirates.
While the Royal Cnidarian surrounds the realm’s waters with impassable barriers of electricity, the Hermit God ensures no unapproved vessels can cross the seas. }}

Behavior

####Phase 1 8 Tentacles will circle the pool of deep water that the Hermit God is hidden in, the tentacles will chase players and fire bullets in a circular pattern if players get too close to them. Hermit Minions will be present chasing players with paralyzing attacks. ####Phase 2 Once all 8 Tentacles are killed, the Hermit God will rise from his pool, become vulnerable and attack players with a stream of blinding ink blobs. 8 Whirlpools will be spawned and will circle the Hermit God, firing radial shots. More Hermit Minions will be spawned on the shore as well. ####Phase 3 The Hermit God will shoot Octoblast bullets a couple of times along the cardinal and intermediate directions. This is followed by the Hermit God's eyes turning red and the boss firing several waves of Yellow Deep Sea Blasts at the nearest player before launching several omnidirectional waves of orange Deep Sea Blasts. Then the Hermit God will sink into the water and phase 1 will repeat. Whirlpools will disappear and Tentacles will be respawned at the start of this phase .

Tips and Strategies

Warrior tips Warrior is one of the best classes to do Hermit God, and this event is recommended for obtaining the coveted Helm of the Juggernaut. (Knight can solo it too). With 40+ def, warrior can easy kill all Hermit Minions and the Hermit Tentacles, at Phase 2 & 3 don't worry about whirlpools (if you have >42 def they only do 7 dmg) and shoot the Hermit God, Crystal Sword can be the best sword to use at phase 2. At phase 3 to do heavier damage use a Skysplitter Sword or Sword of Acclaim. Knight tips The knight can stun and keep stunning the Hermit God at phase 3. The knight can have +60 def if maxed so Hermits would be more easy soloing than warriors. Ogmurs are also useful, but the stun is vital if soloing to prevent accidental death caused by paralysis from the minions. Note on loot Hermit loot is a source of confusion for some players, because, the Hermit God itself doesn't drop loot, but rather, upon death, copies the SB record to the 8 Tentacle Spawners which then drop whatever loot you are eligible for. Amusingly, this sometimes results in multiple bags (and sometimes, very rarely multiple white bags) containing your loot appearing around the Hermit Pool. But, remember, only damage done to the Hermit God will count for SB, hitting Tentacles will not get you loot!
