Idle State: The Hobbit Mage waits for a player to approach. When a player is detected within 12 tiles, it will transition to Ring Attack State

Ring Attack State: The Hobbit Mage fires a ring of Dark Blue Magic around itself. After 0.4 seconds, it fires a ring of Blue Magic around itself. 0.4 seconds after that, it fires a ring of Cyan Magic around itself. It then moves back to Idle State.

The Hobbit Mage is comparable to a walking landmine. His attacks have very short range, but fire in a ring around himself that; should all connect, will deal massive damage if you have 0 DEF.

If you have 9 or more DEF, standing on him is basically harmless.

Defeating this foe is easy, simply keep your distance and fire upon him. Melees need to be a bit more careful, but their armor should mitigate the damage.

The hobbit mages minions serve primarily to annoy you or take shots, so you are best served to focus all attacks on the mage itself to prevent further spawns.
