History

As one of the original five classes, Priest has undergone many changes. Priests used to be completely armor-less, had no ability, but could equip two [rings](/wiki/rings). They gained the ability to heal allies in Build 47, and were given [robe armor](/wiki/robes) in Build 97. The style of their ability has changed as well, from spell scrolls like the Wizard's offensive variety to [Tomes](/wiki/tomes). The tomes' healing capabilities and MP costs were reduced in Build 113; the same build changed Priest's graphics slightly so that he no longer held a shield. Their main weapon, the [wand](/wiki/wands), gained the ability to pierce enemies in Release 25.0.0. More recently, Exalt 1.1.0.0 made Tomes scale negatively with player count, but gave some much-needed offensive capability. Even then, the Priest can be considered one of the best support classes in the game due to his ability to instantly heal himself and his allies from damage. However, as a wand class with low attack and dexterity, he is also the least offensively oriented classes. To unlock the Priest, reach level 5 with the Wizard. Stats and Equipment

As a robe class, the Priest has a higher MP capacity, along with quick MP regeneration with 75 WIS. His high WIS also bolsters the healing capabilities of his tome. However, like other robe classes, he is very prone to damage, and with a vitality cap of 40, he is more reliant on his tome to keep his HP topped off. As a wand class with attack and dexterity capped at 50 and 55, respectively, he is effectively the weakest class in the game in terms of raw damage-per-second, at least without some endgame items. This skillset makes Priest a support-oriented class, a role that Priest can fulfill very effectively. As mentioned earlier, the Priest's weapon is the wand. Wands are medium-damage, long-ranged, piercing weapons; while they make the Priest offensively feeble compared to other classes, it allows for him to engage targets at a very long distance.

Tiered Wands have unmatched utility for the Priest. In order, the [Wand of Ancient Warning](/wiki/wand-of-ancient-warning), [Wand of Recompense](/wiki/wand-of-recompense), [Wand of Evocation](/wiki/wand-of-evocation), [Wand of Retribution](/wiki/wand-of-retribution) are the highest tiered wands available. Most UT wands sacrifice one or both of range and/or piercing; these wands help keep the Priest in a safe distance. Retribution is an untradable drop from [Oryx 3](/wiki/oryx-the-mad-god-3), but the others are tradable.

The [St. Abraham Wand](/wiki/st-abraham-s-wand) is a decent beginner drop from the [Manor of the Immortals](/wiki/manor-of-the-immortals). While its damage is comparable to the T9 [Wand of Deep Sorcery](/wiki/wand-of-deep-sorcery), it's superior 10 tile range helps during phases that would be dangerous with a tiered wand (mainly, Oryx 1/2's dance phase).

The Crystal Wand, dropping from the [Crystal Prisoner](/wiki/crystal-prisoner), sacrifices some damage and piercing in order to ignore a target's defense. Comparible to the T12 Wand of Recompense in most situations, it shines against enemies like the [Stone Guardians](/wiki/stone-guardians), the [Avatar of the Forgotten King](/wiki/avatar-of-the-forgotten-king), and especially against enemies found in the [Nightmare Colony](/wiki/nightmare-colony).

These wands boast very high damage, but sacrifice piercing. The [Conducting Wand (Condu)](/wiki/conducting-wand) gives a higher rate of fire and an additional +4 DEX and WIS. For a relatively easy boss (the [Horrific Creation](/wiki/horrific-creation)), this wand outdamages even the T14 wand (against low/decent DEF). As a downside, it sacrifices a tile of range, in addition to its nonpiercing. The [Wand of the Fallen](/wiki/wand-of-the-fallen) is excellent in single target boss fights, with better DPS than the Condu and only really beaten by endgame UTs in turn. Its boss, [Daichi the Fallen](/wiki/daichi-the-fallen), isn't an endgame boss. However, it only has a range of 6.6 tiles, much lower than most wands. ![Wand of the Bulwark](//imgur.com/FVbME6f.png "Wand of the Bulwark") The [Wand of the Bulwark](/wiki/wand-of-the-bulwark) from [Stheno the Snake Queen](/wiki/stheno-the-snake-queen) is a unique weapon that fires extremely slow, parametric shots. This makes the wand nearly impossible to aim. But with the same effective damage as the [Doom Bow](/wiki/doom-bow), this weapon is great to pre-fire against enemies with invulnerability phases.

While the [Soul's Guidance](/wiki/soul-s-guidance) has fairly weak, wavy main shots, it has an interesting proc: creating blue souls that follow the user, deal damage, and heal the user's HP. At the end, they explode with a Curse effect (though at a small radius).

The [Magic Wand](/wiki/magic-wand) is an ST wand that drops from the Puppet Minions from the [Puppet Master's Encore](/wiki/puppet-master-s-encore). With 150% rate of fire and the ability to pierce shots, it's most comparable to the [Thousand Shot](/wiki/thousand-shot) bow. Along with it's unique property of both ignoring obstacles and shots that boomerang back, it's the perfect wand for clearing the Realm, particularly the Mountains/Godlands. [![Dusty Catalyst](//imgur.com/jSqXhv5.png "Dusty Catalyst")](/wiki/dusky-catalyst)[![Lumiaire](//imgur.com/XTQGS8H.png "Lumiaire")](/wiki/lumiaire) These endgame wands give the Priest competitive levels of DPS. The [Dusty Catalyst](/wiki/dusky-catalyst)'s great damage is at least comparible to the Wand of the Fallen, beating it until ~38 DEF. However, it inflicts Silence if you fire it In Combat, meaning that either your shots or your healing is gone whenever you get hit. This weapon might be better on other wand classes, though it's not terrible. While weaker than the Lumiaire, it also pierces enemies, making it amazing for clearing gods and weak dungeons. The [Lumiaire](/wiki/lumiaire)'s two shots deal amazing damage, the clear highest of any non-sitting wand. The only drawback is its very slow shot speed, meaning that you either have to be able to predict the enemy's movement or have to get incredibly close to the enemy in order to deal damage. It also has no piercing a slightly shorter range of 7.2 tiles, but don't let that discourage you from using a very strong wand from [Archbishop Leucoryx](/wiki/archbishop-leucoryx).

Ability

The Priest is a long ranged healing class. Unlike the Paladin, the heal is instantaneous -- perfect for sticky situations -- but lacks the 25% attack boost. His tome will heal every player within the vicinity of the Priest when cast. Most tiered tomes also provide a lingering healing buff that increases players' HP regeneration beyond the initial healing. The Priest's ability is what makes him such an amazing support class and a long-lasting soloing class, even with robes. His ability can turn the tide of the battle, help out players who are taking large sums of damage, and even prevent them from dying. Although healing others is not necessary, often you'll find that fellow adventurers will appreciate and respect you for doing so. Tomes are also affected by your character's wisdom, so the more wisdom your priest has, the stronger the heal is and the longer the healing lasts.

The [Tome of Holy Guidance](/wiki/tome-of-holy-guidance) is the best tradable tiered tome as it can heals the most HP and provide the longest Healing buff duration. The [Tome of Hallowed Language](/wiki/tome-of-hallowed-language) grants a bit more healing per use but it is a soulbound drop from Oryx 3. However they have a fairly high cost of 120-130 MP to cast a heal.

The [Tome of Purification](/wiki/tome-of-purification) has a similar heal as the top-tier tomes with greater range at the cost of 110 MP. It has the unique capability of removing negative status effects from the user. Unlike the tiered tomes, it does not grant Healing, but does give a useful +10 VIT and +10 WIS, which further increases its healing potential. A Priest with high enough WIS can heal up to 320 HP per cast, making it have one of the best MP per heal ratio of all tomes.

The [Book of Geb](/wiki/book-of-geb) retains the Healing effect and is the only tome that grants speedy on use while costing only 100 MP, making it a good choice for rushing dungeons or clearing realms. The added +5 DEF, +3 VIT and +3 WIS also helps when taking damage while rushing. In addition, the Speedy from this tome synergizes well with [Ring of Unbound Speed (UBSpeed)](/wiki/ring-of-unbound-speed) as it allows the Priest travel even faster than normal.

The Tome of Holy Protection (Prot) is a unique untiered tome that heals less than the top tier tomes at a cost of 150 MP. But instead of granting the Healing status effects, it gives an Armored status to the user for a minimum of 4 seconds. Armored status increases target's defense by 50%, so this tome turns the Priest tanky as a Warrior/Paladin for the duration, and it heals HP. Bringing MP potions or a high level pet only makes things easier. The Priest becomes resistant to almost all forms of damage this way, and using this tome consistently makes taking damage far easier.

The Tome of Pain is the only tome that damages enemies, giving the priest an offensive ability (500 damage) that also heals. However, this tome's healing is less than that of the other tomes, at 80 hp for the cost of 120 MP. The stat bonuses gained from the tome increase the class's offensive and defensive abilities with +4 ATT, +4 SPD +2 DEF, but affect the overal health of a player with penalties of -5 VIT and -20 HP. ![Necronomicon](//imgur.com/DLxQaHW.png "Necronomicon") The [Necronomicon](/wiki/necronomicon), dropping from [Avalon the Archivist](/wiki/avalon-the-archivist), is a risky tome akin to the Tome of Pain. The Necronomicon shoots out a row of shots that curses enemies for 4 seconds. However, upon use, it also gives you the curse debuff for 4 seconds, making this tome a double edged sword. Additionally, the tome gives low healing, making this more of a support tome. Priest can use this to increase their damage, but may not need it if there are Mystics nearby to curse instead. ![Tome of Holy Furor](//imgur.com/Qnu3uUJ.png "Tome of Holy Furor") The [Tome of Holy Furor](/wiki/tome-of-holy-furor) is a more DPS oriented item. It gives a small +55 HP and a complimentary +7 SPD. This tome gives a large +15 DEX boost for 3.5 seconds upon use, increasing the Priest's low DPS. The Tome of Holy Furor is a small support item for increasing DPS, but there are tomes that deal much higher damage without a DPS boost. ![Tome of the Mushroom Tribes](//imgur.com/YShpFqv.png "Tome of the Mushroom Tribes") The [Tome of the Mushroom Tribes](/wiki/tome-of-the-mushroom-tribes) (Fungal Tome) from the [Crystal Worm Mother](/wiki/crystal-worm-mother) is one of the greatest healing tomes in the game. Instead of healing players around your vicinity, the tome *places a healing mushroom on your cursor*. The mushroom heals for 120 HP every second for 3 seconds, resulting in a full 360 HP healed. Not only that, but the mushroom's heal *does not decrease by player count* unlike most other tomes. The downside is that only a maximum of 10 players near the mushroom can be healed. However, this is negligeble, as the tome's cost is not too high, and because of how much control you have over where people get healed, you can spam the mushroom throughout your whole group, allowing many players to get large amounts of their HP healed. The Tome of the Mushroom Tribes is an extremely powerful healing tome for the Priest. ![Chaotic Scripture](//imgur.com/JG0yY9F.png "Chaotic Scripture") The [Chaotic Scripture](/wiki/chaotic-scripture), dropped by [Archbishop Leucoryx](/wiki/archbishop-leucoryx), is a very powerful tome. It completely outdamage the Tome of Pain while also having increased range. This tome summons a Chaos Beam on your cursor that also *armor pierces*, allowing the Priest to behave more like a Wizard as you can choose where to deal your damage. Fittingly, the disadvantage is worse healing, which is why you should carry a tiered tome as a swapout. The Chaotic Scripture is a great tome for if you want the Priest to deal high amounts of damage.

Armor

The light robes worn by the Priest pairs well with his high Wis and it increases his tomes' potency even further, amplifying the effectiveness of his ability, and boosting his MP to cast heals more often. ![Robe of the Grand Sorcerer](//imgur.com/Oup28jC.png "Robe of the Grand Sorcerer")![Robe of the Star Mother](//imgur.com/TfNgqCU.png "Robe of the Star Mother")![Robe of the Ancient Intellect](//i.imgur.com/FFK4t7E.png "Robe of the Ancient Intellect") The [Robe of the Grand Sorcerer](/wiki/robe-of-the-grand-sorcerer) / [Robe of the Star Mother](/wiki/robe-of-the-star-mother) / [Robe of the Ancient Intellect](/wiki/robe-of-the-ancient-intellect) are the primary armors of the Priest. Both provide ample Defense and MP, higher WIS, and boosted ATT. While these robes may not be as powerful in specific areas as some untiered robes their versatility cannot be ignored, one can never go wrong with these. ![Water Dragon Silk Robe](//imgur.com/gqVpc9Y.png "Water Dragon Silk Robe") The [Water Dragon Silk Robe](/wiki/water-dragon-silk-robe) is a UT robe obtained from [Nikao the Azure Dragon](/wiki/nikao-the-azure-dragon). This robe sacrifces all its MP, 1 DEF and 3 WIS for 2 extra ATT and a hefty 6 SPD. While Priests who are dependent on their tomes to heal, the increase in weapon damage and maneuverability allows increased overall DPS and rushing ability. However, the proc that comes with the robe is rendered useless since the Priest can already heal himself. Overall this robe is a solid choice for a Priest who are playing offensively.

The [Ritual Robe](/wiki/ritual-robe) is obtained from [Malus](/wiki/malus) in the [Lost Halls](/wiki/lost-halls). This robe should be the goal of Priest building around their maxing their WIS. While losing 20 MP and 4 DEF from a [Robe of the Star Mother](/wiki/robe-of-the-star-mother), it more than makes up for with 5 ATT and an extraordinary +15 bonus to WIS. This, combined with the WisMod scaling that increases Priest's tome healing, Healing duration and range significantly. The Ritual Robe can add an extra 60 healing per cast on most of tomes, and makes for a great robe when focusing on supporting his teammates. ![Tlatoani's Shroud](//imgur.com/JciwcUX.png "Tlatoani's Shroud")![Robe of the Mad Scientist](//imgur.com/SwTLhZA.png "Robe of the Mad Scientist") Both of these robes are good for increasing the Priest's utility. The [Tlatoani's Shroud](/wiki/tlatoani-s-shroud) from the three Tribesmen within the [Secluded Thicket](/wiki/secluded-thicket) gives a large increase of +180 MP and an impressive +10 WIS. The drawback is that there is *no DEF increase*, making this an extremely risky robe. On the other hand, the [Robe of the Mad Scientist](/wiki/robe-of-the-mad-scientist) from [Dr. Terrible](/wiki/dr-terrible) gives a small DEF bonus and a special proc that reduces MP cost by 25%. Note that if you use the Robe of the Mad Scientist in tandem with Gemstone, you can *reduce your MP cost by a whopping 47.5%*. This robe is great for using cheaper heals. ![Diplomatic Robe](//imgur.com/hHyzrLB.png "Diplomatic Robe")![Vesture of Duality](//imgur.com/QjfsjIn.png "Vesture of Duality") These two robes are amazing for increasing the Priest's DPS. The [Diplomatic Robe](/wiki/diplomatic-robe) (Diplo) from [Chancellor Dammah](/wiki/chancellor-dammah) is a good balance between DPS and survivability. With its increase in HP and its proc which allows massive DPS, Diplomatic Robe is a good choice for the Priest, giving him more defensive stats and high DPS potential. Meanwhile, the [Vesture of Duality](/wiki/vesture-of-duality) from [Archbishop Leucoryx](/wiki/archbishop-leucoryx) is the opposite, giving high DPS but reduced survivability with its proc. The Priest, like many other robe classes, has low defensive stats, so it may be preferable to use the Diplomatic Robe. However, if one is willing to sacrifice survivability for DPS, then the Vesture of Duality is a great choice for the Priest.

Ring

Pure health rings benefit a priest by allowing them to absorb more damage, before instantly restoring it again with a simple use of a tome.
