Shattered Kingdom Pages

The Shattered Kingdom Pages are a series of 20 short entries that depict the history and eventual fall of The Shatters, which can be viewed by double-clicking on the item. They were procedurally released as part of the Shattered Kingdom event released to lead up to the 2021 Shatters Rework. During the event, Pages 1-10 dropped from bosses in the Cursed Library, Pages 11-15 from the Wine Cellar, and Pages 16-20 from The Shatters. Several Tinkerer quests were also added, allowing players to obtain the pages through the corresponding dungeon marks.

For the duration of the event, pages could be submitted to The Tinkerer for rewards as well as tomes that serve the same purpose, but in a more condensed format:

  • The Shattered Kingdom: Tome I (Pages I-V)

Trivia

  • Page 1 appears to depict a national anthem of sorts for the Shattered Kingdom. This same poem/song was spoken in the teaser trailer for the event.
  • Page 4 reveals that Oryx used to be a regular citizen of common birth, and that he was recruited into the army despite his status, due to his strength and endless ambition.
  • Page 5 shows Oryx offering an axe to Chief Beisa, his sparring partner and mutual friend during his gladiatorial career.
  • Pages 7 and 8 show Oryx defeating Lord Ruthven and Shaitan the Advisor respectively, as his Realm Eye Response described before. Notably, Shaitan looks significantly different than how his sprite depicts him, with a full body and a more demonic-looking head.
  • Page 10 shows Oryx turning on the Shatters alongside his first few allies, formerly his enemies: Lord Ruthven, Shaitan, and Skuld.
  • Page 10 is also when Oryx is seen discarding his original light-colored armor (a gift from the royal family, as the Gladiator Guard’s tooltip states) and shield, replacing it with his more known black armor.
    • Compared to his old armor, Oryx’s helm has larger horns and now lacks a plume, while his new shield bears a white cross symbol (instead of the original pattern), which the tooltip for Oryx’s Escutcheon explains is Oryx’s own crest, now known as a symbol of oppression.
  • The description on Page 10 mimics the phrase Oryx himself says when he dies (“No! This cannot be!”).
  • Page 14 depicts the Twilight Archmage using the Magi-Generators to channel the Void Entity into the Forgotten King, leading to his possession and the Shatters’ subsequent fall to ruin.
  • Page 15 shows the Forgotten Sentinel jamming the drawbridge of the Shatters, sealing the corrupted king inside to protect the rest of the realm.
  • Pages 18-20 show the three bosses of the Shatters: the Twilight Archmage, the Forgotten Sentinel, and the Forgotten King respectively.
  • The text on Pages 16-20 is directly taken from the description used in the original concept draft of the dungeon by LordShon. A slightly shortened version of the same description is used as the tooltip for the Shatters Key.
