The portal drops from gelatinous cubes, goblin warriors, giant crabs, sand devils and forest nymphs.

Why

The weak minions provide enough exp to level a starting player quickly, though stronger characters may wish to search elsewhere. Most of the times, it's more worthwhile to go to the midlands to fight ents or do harder dungeons. Look for T2-T4 armor/weapons and T1 rings among the loot to help fight your enemies in the realm. Pirate rum, though quite rare, is also a nice reward.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

###Navigating
Pirate caves contain several small rooms full of pirates, which are easy to kill. Clearing these rooms will give low-level characters a chance to find gear and gain exp before moving to the boss area, though you shouldn't need to run more than one pirate cave if trying to level. Dreadstump can be found in the largest room, spawned with a handful of minions.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

###Boss: Dreadstump the Pirate King

If your attack power or defense is low, it may be necessary to shoot his minions first to keep them out of the way. They are easy to kill and do not respawn, so your attention can then be focused on Dreadstump. Dodge his attacks and he should be finished quickly with a few well-placed blows. It serves no other purpose other than to inflict the {{template-drunk}} debuff on the player.

The [Corsair Ring](/wiki/corsair-ring) is an early game ring providing +20 HP and +2 DEF. It is a common drop, dropping in a [cyan bag](/wiki/loot-containers) from [Deadstump](/wiki/dreadstump-the-pirate-king) and can serve as solid choice in very early levels.

[Dreadstump](/wiki/dreadstump-the-pirate-king) has also has a low chance of dropping the [First Mate's Hook](/wiki/first-mate-s-hook), the accessory piece to the [Pirate King Warrior Set](/wiki/pirate-king-warrior-set), a strong set that can be utilised mid-game.

The [Scallywag Slurp Pet Skin](/wiki/pet-skins) is the most sought after item within the dungeon, dropping very rarely from only Dreadstump. Many players appreciate the novelty of it being a rare drop from a very common dungeon.

Layout and Navigation Throughout the Dungeon

The Pirate Cave contains several shipwrecked ships and islands with interconnecting platforms, each full of pirates and pirate companions. Clearing these rooms will grant low-level characters a chance to find gear and gain EXP before moving to the boss area, a large ship detailed with red carpets and sails. [Dreadstump](/wiki/dreadstump-the-pirate-king) can be found at the back of the ship, spawned with a handful of stronger minions. Due to the nature of the dungeon, it is easy to skip many of the platforms by simply wading towards the boss through the water, along with the lack of walls, this serves as an easy shortcut for beginners. The enemies aren't hard to clear out, dragging or circling will always work. If you are struggling, avoid staying in the water, as you'll have a harder time dodging due to your slowed mobility.

Enemies

These pirates are the lowest rank of the bunch. They have the most basic attacks and do almost no damage. However, they each have slightly different attack patterns. The [Cave Pirate Brawler](/wiki/cave-pirate-brawler), true to its name, only attacks the player when it gets close enough. The [Cave Pirate Sailor](/wiki/cave-pirate-sailor) acts similarly, except it'll constantly shoot, even if it's not close enough to the player. However, it will still stay idle if no player is actually present/detected. Finally, the [Cave Pirate Veteran](/wiki/cave-pirate-veteran) will attempt to circle the player while shooting. All of them can be easily defeated by simply dragging or circling, with only the latter possibly being difficult with the Cave Pirate Veteran.

These pirates are the leaders, as they are both stronger and have more complex attacks. Most of them will be accompanied by other pirates, so be careful of those too. The [Pirate Lieutenant](/wiki/pirate-lieutenant) will fire slow moving canonballs. Most of the other pirates in this group have similar attacks, scaling both damage and variety. The [Pirate Commander](/wiki/pirate-commander) will have almost the exact same attack as the Pirate Lieutenant, only shooting at a slightly faster rate. The [Pirate Captain](/wiki/pirate-captain) is where a more significant change happens. He will shoot two types of cannonballs, a fast one dealing more damage, followed by two slower cannonballs dealing less damage. He will also occasionally be {{template-armored}}. Best way to deal with them alone is to strafe his shots. His {{template-armored}} effect may make it slightly more annoying to kill, but he already has low Defense, so you shouldn't worry too much about it. Finally, the [Pirate Admiral](/wiki/pirate-admiral) is the most difficult enemy in the dungeon (which isn't saying much). It has almost the exact same attack as the Pirate Captain, with the only difference being that its shots do more damage. Use the same strategies as before, strafe the shots and deal damage.

These enemies are purely aesthetic and serve as free loot. None of them attack and all wander around aimlessly, never walking into the water. However, they do provide a bit of life to the dungeon, which is nice. It makes the game feel more like a world with people, even if they don't talk.

Dreadstump the Pirate King

Shoot his minions first to keep them out of the way.
